I do this with every spacebar I come across and then some because I love how heavy spacebar feels and sounds. Instead of sharp clacks, these sound more like a stone wheel rolling over a pothole.

Do you run heavier springs to compensate for the added weight?

When needed, yes. 55g is too light and 62.5g is fine for linear switch. With tactile switches, it’ll depend on the shape of the bump. For example, MX Clear stem will need heavier spring than Halo stem. Just try different weights until you find one that offers the perfect balance.
