the unreal gaskets are installed under the plate to eliminate the slider housing rattle while the silencing rings are installed on the sliders to mute the upstroke sound while typing
Ah cool, so I guess I should get both and experiment with them! Thanks a bunch.
@norbauer please respond to my email for order #4350 ASAP. It is URGENT! Thanks!
Hi @thelaughingman. Sorry I haven’t yet responded to the message you sent last night, but it arrived after I was asleep and I just woke up (Pacific time).
In any case, I’m working on your requested address update now and will confirm by email when it has been taken care of.
ah man, im always late to the party with these things, i would love to buy one of these fantastic cases for my Realforce R2 TKL and MX Sliders etc, if I am just patient, will more stock appear in the future?
You can always try mechmarket (and set a ClickClack bot on Telegram for notification). I just bought a PC Norbaforce with very reasonable price last week.
yeh thats an idea, im going to have a look and see if people flip these a lot on MM, or i can wait around for a R3
Been prowling trying to buy one on MM in the Aperture finish but I haven’t seen much yet, I’m also hoping for an eventual R3
Veracity Steel is stunning in person. It’s hard to convey in photos, since it’s like taking a picture of a mirror.
This build uses a stock R2 RGB, plus felt dampener. I also lined any surface of the plate that makes contact with the case with vinyl tape, for a “gasket”-like mount. It’s probably my favorite sounding Topre board I’ve built to date.
I am waiting for an extra of the poly carbonate norba houses! Going to put the RGB in that with MT3 Serika keycaps
oh my goodness
How do you cope with fingerprints and micro scratches?
I am curious to hear the answer. Though the good thing about stainless is the scratches can generally always be removed. Scratch in anodized aluminum? It will be there forever until resurfaced and coated.
Does anyone know how a scratch in a powder coat would be addressed? I’d assume it’s in the “strip and re-coat” boat as well, but wasn’t sure!
Correct! The fact that this can be done chemically multiple times without significantly harming the part (unlike anodizing) is a great advantage of powder. Almost any powder coating shop can strip for you in addition to coating, except here in California where the chemical restrictions are very stringent, but even then it’s about 50% of shops that can do it.
@norbauer happy holiday man! Only got around to check on the MK3 2020: GOCF today. Pretty nice to see that it’s now a complete bundle: case + steel cover plate + breakout PCB + dampener compare to before when I had to buy the items individually. Though I am feeling slightly miffed that this year’s collector got all of it for almost $300 less and now it’s sold out already
I was originally going to raise the price on this round to account for these extras but then just felt a little guilty about the high number that that added up to and lost my nerve, offering instead at last year’s price. If it makes you feel any better, think of it is me losing money rather than the latest round of participants gaining anything, because that’s pretty much what it is.
It was quite a surprise when I read what’s included and my first thought was ‘oh, how generous’ so exactly like you said. Then slowly the price came back to me haha.
Though in all fairness, there’s no quantifying the dollar amount of the use and joy I’ve got out of the keyboard in the past year. When I relocated across the country, the GOCF was the only keyboard I took with me and still my daily driver to date!
the GOCF is some of my favorite keyboard design, but alas the price of that + a realforce wasn’t in the budget this year after quite a few group buys! Here’s hoping for another round next Christmas
Also it looks like the VHS finish for the Mark II has some limited availability at this time. If I had missed out on the iced polycarbonate one from Christmas, I would for sure snatch one of these.
