On my 2-split spacebar I had space and the letter E! Yes, that was commitment to typing optimization.

Now on the split keyboard I have 4 good thumb keys:
Left:
- Delete (not Backspace)
- Space
Right:
- E
- Insert
Delete and Insert double as layer toggles when held. I used to have Enter instead of Insert and might go back to that. I stopped, because I had a time of many typos when the letter E was followed by Enter.
I don’t need Backspace on the thumbs, because it’s much closer to the resting hand position on my small split keyboard.
If you also want four thumb keys, but on an otherwise “normal” ANSI-like keyboard, then let’s build a Thumbs Up together! (See link above.)
