What are your thoughts on the new MT3-inspired MTNU and URSA designs?

I like it, but honestly, uniform SA feels more comfortable to me. I don’t like that the profile forces me to type a certain way to feel right. I feel like I have to hold my hands in a very particular way and press the keycap just right with MTNU. When I do, it feels comfy. But I don’t always type the same way. But it really is a good thing that we have so many options. It’s definitely a different world for the hobby than it was a decade ago.

For me, MTNU can be comfy but not consistently so. I did find that finding the right spring helps a lot.

Initially the typing angle felt weird but after adding some taller feet (cork with double sided tape :see_no_evil:) at the back of the keyboard it felt better

So full disclosure, I’ve never used SA or AFSA. I’m surprised to see you both mention that MTNU feels less comfortable at times, but I get it. I think my hands must naturally conform to the MTNU (and MT3) profiles, while Cherry profile requires a bit more care for me on hand placement.

I’d put MTNU as my current favorite profile, both in terms of shape and material. At least to me, there’s a softness to the shape and texture that works very well at its low height. I generally like the feel of PBT keycaps, so MTNU’s material is a big plus for me as well.

HSA is a very close second favorite of mine. I still love MT3, but the height is less comfortable on some boards. I’ve come around to liking Cherry profile after initially disliking it, but it feels very “meh” to me in terms of comfort. Not terrible, not great.

The only keycap profile I can’t stand at all are true flat caps found on many laptop keyboards, but that’s not exactly a hot take on this site.

I’m the complete opposite to you haha I despise SA All R3, I like the curves and the scoops all too much (maybe influencing by the fact that I only type on Topre, no MX here)
