What I like about the Sonnet are the options to customize it to your taste and preference.
So you get your choice of various plate options (at some point they even offered nylon). Then you have your option of mounting styles - stack (2022 models only), isolated top mount, gasket (using third party silicone feets), lattice of varying firmness (2024 models only - kind of gasket mount).
You also have your choice of internal weights, different materials, different heaviness, or no weights at all. Then top and bottom cases not just in aluminum, but also polycarbonate.
Then there’s the choices to make it your own with different accents and the option for engraving.
Plus, the PCB is designed by Gondo, someone well regarded in the community. They also have a pretty vibrant community on Discord too with staff always around to assist.
Me again.
And there was a reason for such a big silence in my posts.)
Everything was going like one big one.
Although there will be another big parcel soon. Maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
I bought this on sale on Tao. I already have it. But the discount was big. I still need to compare the “molding” type. old and new. So far I see only the difference that the new ones are without lubrication.
Everyone should be familiar with Keygeek. The switches currently produced include Jinyu switch, Avalon switch, Wanfeng switch, Xiaoxin switch, Ling switch… But this switch is a little special in that the bottom shell is made of PBT material used for keycaps (whether it is the same material as Avalon’s P7 has not yet been determined). Let’s post the parameters of the switch first!
Then I bring you the undyed version (i.e. the RAW version of the Karman spool, the original color version). The technical indicators are the same as the standard version. I won’t post it here.
Oh that Keygeek switch with the PBT bottom housing looks pretty interesting. I recently got some Keebfront Bigwigs because they have a PBT bottom. Being honest in the hand the sound isn’t too far off a nylon bottom housing, but I’m gonna hold judgement till I have them proper tuned & installed in a board. I have feeling that with plastic plates they may produce a more distinct sound.
The single Mode board in my collection is a Mode 80 (v2) that I bought like 3 years ago, and it’s still sitting in a box unbulit, lol. It’s a common problem with the boards I own for sure, but there were a a couple of reasons why it’s lower on my build list. From what I remember the anno was rather rough feeling (that could be different now), I figured out that the typing angle is too shallow for me, and I’m not a fan of Mode’s DLC business model (configure it how you like… for only double the price).
Thanks! I’ve been usong those acrylic evil boxes from Drop since I bought a bunch of them. I have been wanting to get a nice alum box for my rarer caps. My collection is coming along nicely, but there is some collectors out there that have collections that put mine to shame.
I have a couple of Advantage 2’s! How do you swap the switches in these? Is there desoldering/soldering required? I’d love to swap out switches/keys for mine, but not sure if I have the skills to do this yet haha.
These are a bit tough to swap switches in. It requires:
Desoldering each switch
Desoldering each switch’s diode
Remove the glue holding the switch to plates
Then you’ll need to either reuse the diodes from the old switches or buy some new ones for each switch and solder those in while soldering in the switches.
Another option is to contact UpgradeKeyboards to do this work, which is, admittedly, expensive, but probably the route I’m going to go because I don’t feel like dealing with the above steps right now.

I’m home, The set looks amazing! Gonna swap them onto my TKL One here in a min to finally give MTNU a try! Also love the way NK has the Krytox syringes packed, can’t leak if it’s vacuum sealed!
Edit: No warped keys or anything funky with my set, looks awesome on the TKL One! The feel is something else too, kinda hard to describe. Like a cross between Cherry & MT3 profile caps. The caps have that finger hugging feel, but being much lower profile than MT3 the height reminds me of typing on Cherry profile. I’ll have to use the profile more to come to a definitive conclusion about how I like MTNU, but first impressions are very strong!
Oh wow, that’s really vivid! I’m still holding out for a colorful MTNU set, that doesn’t just have bright accents. A full blue or purple set would be an insta-buy.
I’ve been kicking around ideas for MTNU designs, since KRK has the models for it. I just have no idea what the process is for getting one made. I’ve never seen any interest checks for MTNU sets, they just sort of materialize in-stock.
