Damn that orange looks nice! it’s a pretty straight forward build IME, but if you need any advice with it feel free to hit me up bud.
XDA Alps relegendable keycaps for this small ortho board. The corners on these are sharper than other XDA keycaps that I have. I am just waiting on the lighter springs that I ordered to finish it up.
Now that’s a combination of words I never thought i’d hear. XDA, Alps, and Relegendable.
Whew, your collection is coming along strong Goat! Love to see it bud!
Got a teal Transition Lite TKL from SwagKeys – super cheap (before shipping anyway) at $50. Liked it enough when Divinikey restocked them recently I wound up grabbing two more (one clear and another beige).
Fox65 (kit or prebuilt) by Chosfox x Masro. If I ever switch back from splits to a more classic keyboard, this would be my top contender: VIA, ANSI/ISO, split spacebar, slider, CNC alu. I love it!
More photos and my thoughts: Chosfox Fox65
I saw recently that SwagKeys was selling aluminum tops. Looks like they sold out fast though. Makes me want to grab one and an alu. top. I prefer the looks and curves of the Transition over the Tiger even though both are great boards.
Got some GMK Relegendables (L9 & N9 1u, 10 packs & the U9 front print set), a shit ton of paper inserts for them, a fresh set of SK knights stabs (black), & one of their 3ml 205 pens to see how well the auto dispensing works on them. Then some resin (What else is new, huh? No, I don’t have a problem… ) I won on Diego’s (Lightning) Discord server. Not sure of the maker or sculpt. will have to look it up & add the name later.
New green topre from PFU today!
I have them on my white 25th anniversary edition at the moment, but I’m thinking they need to go on my veracity steel HG for instagram photos. Such a lovely spring green color.
A prototype copy of the wall display I designed for GMK’s CYL standard color sample set:
This worked out really nicely, so I have another one on the way for the MTNU set, and a handful of smaller ones to use as testers. These are acrylic plates that use standard wall stand-offs; I had an extra of each design made if anyone is interested.
Waittt, that is so cool.
Tbh imho that should be something the seller 100% covers for. I had the luck of never really having an issue, except once a watch from Drop (shortly after the rebrand I think) stopped working. Sent back on their cost and also got my tax and customs back. Wouldn’t have accepted anything else though.
Night Caps newest sculpt (Garlic Cap) & a Starry Night Crescent Cap from Sodie Caps (the resin drawing is insane on this one!).
Edit: My BF haul from Cannonkeys just showed up too! The Brutal 1800 V2 super nice in person! Just wish they would sell brass & copper weights for it. I decided to go with green since I do not have a green board, I also grabbed the silicone gaskets & a POM half plate for it. Then I got 108 Gateron Sea Salt Smoothies (they seem just as good as regular Smoothies in a quick hand test, awesome factory lube!) & 2 more board clothes for my FLX Virgo & LZ erGhost when they get here on fri.
I’ve had some good maildays, but today takes the cake!
Got my FLX Virgo, LZ erGhost (finding a hard case for this guy is gonna be a nightmare), my latest 2 wins from Wheat Caps (would it be a mailday for me without resin… ), a 5800X 3D I got for great price, & some Thermal Grizzly Kyrosheets for when I swap my CPU! Didn’t expect so much of the stuff I recently ordered to all show up on the same day, but I’m not complaining!
MTNU Granite from NovelKeys arrived yesterday! Colors and double shot look even better in person. The caps were a jumbled mess in the trays again, but that seems par for the course with MTNU and I haven’t noticed any actual damage.
Nice, MTNU is super good IMO! Let us know how you like them! Also yeah the caps getting jumbled all over does seem to be the norm for MTNU. I guess most of the caps being shorter than Cherry profile gives them just enough room to do that. Hopefully GMK makes trays specifically for MTNU soon.
Got my Endgame Kit today, really excited to build this. Also PCBs for the Re-Gret last week, also a project for this week.
Got my latest orders from Divinikey & Antipode in today, I also got a new small power strip/surge protector with USB connections on it from Amazon in today too. This is the stuff I grabbed from DK’s BF sale. Went with 4 of the KBDfans keycap trays, 2 packs of the Designer Studio adaptive stabs, & 2 packs of Geon’s balanced stab wires. The keycap trays are pretty decent & will serve their purpose, but I still think JTK’s trays are my favorites. I’ll have to get back to you on the stabs & wires once I try them out, but both look promising!
Then from Antipode I grabbed a POM plate & extra gaskets + feet for my Virgo. Also gotta share a story of how awesome the guys at Antipode are. After I ordered this stuff I looked around everywhere for some type of case for my LZ erGhost & ended up landing on just ordering another case for the Virgo as the best solution. Well for whatever reason their shipping estimates bugged out over that order & wanted to charge me like $52 for shipping so I decided to drop that ideal. Out of the blue I get message request on Discord from someone I do not know. The only reason I accepted it actually is because we had so many servers in common. It ended up being one of the guys from Antipode letting me know shipping shouldn’t be that expensive for the case & he made some adjustments on the backend to correct that if I still wanted to grab one. It still wanted to charge me $52 for shipping after that even so he sent me a custom invoice with the shipping adjusted to the $35 it should be! Definitely some superb custom service from Antipode that I feel like should be highlighted. They definitely got themselves a loyal customer here now that I’ve seen the quality of their products & quality of their service!
Generally I agree with you. However, in this case it’s a double-edged sword. The vendor probably would have had no issue to cover the return and send me the correct items free of charge if I was living within US borders. As I basically tricked the vendor into believing they would ship to a US address (using a forwarder) I kind of bent the system to work for something it wasn’t planned for to begin with.
I fear that by making a big thing out of such occurrences, I would surely be able to get it my way, but simultaneously push vendors into blocking such forwarding addresses in the future - like many big(ger) companies do, e.g. Lenovo, Apple, and afaik even Keychron.
Hence when things like this happen, I try to be as fair as possible, unless it’s a shop like Amazon, where I totally go above and beyond to get a replacement without having to send back the wrong item because screw Bezos.
