What did you get in the mail today? (Part 2)

I picked up some Gateron Weightlessness switches - I plan to use them in a minimi40 when it comes in

My goodness, now that is a name of all time for a switch lol.

Sounds like these are Gateron Browns? Is that what you have found as well?

The bump is similar to a brown switch - these are reduced travel long pole switches so they are louder - I don’t have any Gateron browns to compare them to - they do feel similar to a Baby Kangaroo but are lighter

Prototype Stratum 80 from Artifact is here! Also GMK Gorp and a box of DynaCap parts (not pictured)

Jeez that’s purty, and it’s also the single most German object I’ve seen in some time.

Holy hell man. Does it come with an engine hoist to move it around?

Some GMK caps today. ADA and Windbreaker. Really impressed with the color matching on windbreaker. Looks identical to the DCS set.

ADA is a great color. A bit more orange and saturated than DCS Sport Walker. Very nice.

I’ll post some pics when I get them on boards

A really cool, late Christmas gift arrived. Another wonderful item for the growing Fallout shelf collection.

got a few things in the mail today, but this is what I played with the most:

Massdrop/Drop/Corsair brought some good things and bad things to the market for the keyboard community. I think the highlight reels can’t leave out MT3 and Halo switches (bringing about the Holy Panda and popularity of the long pole switch). But I also think the CSTM80 and CSTM65 boards are some of the coolest stuff Drop did.

There is so much potential in this idea of a keyboard that can look and feel different in a matter of minutes, and at an affordable price.

I bought the CSTM65 with a promotion coupon plus rewards for essentially free. I ended up liking it even more than the CSTM80. (Got some good stuff for that one too that I’ll show later).

I own the default black case with aluminum weight and PC plate. I was using it with PBS BoB previously. It had the backlight on a slow sweeping teal blue. It was pretty slick. The build felt very minimal and somewhat sci-fi/gamer like. It sounds lovely and solid bc it has lots of silicone and foam dampening.

Today I got some parts for cheap from the Drop closeout. I got a green top, a brass plate, and a black PVD brass weight.

I paird it with JTK suited assasin keycaps, but I think it would look very nice with beige or cream as well.

It’s such a nifty keyboard. I have some ideas for future mods as well.

I already have one. I bought another set. On the Chinese flea market “Taobao2”. They don’t make it anymore and it’s not available for sale.
I managed to buy it in perfect condition, unused.
Just a little dirty in places. As if the Chinese person hadn’t washed their hands and had touched the keycaps.

I really like this version. Minimal packaging and same great performance. Looks like the package handling isn’t ideal.

Bought a Pro Classic. First ever actual HHKB  87u has a conical buddy now. Going to run it stock for awhile before I tune it up.

I got a lot of things today, but one of the most interesting things are these Milky Way hash line keycaps that I picked up from the Unikeys spring sale.

I had been looking at these for many months and then when they went on sale I bought them.

I’ve never had a set of key caps that actually looks better in photos than in real life. But these really do look better when you have a very close up view. Not something that my older eyes can see from a typing distance. Yeah, from where I’m sitting, they just look like gray blanks

I mounted these on three different keyboards and didn’t realize until I took these photos that they have lowercase sub legends as well.

You could get some insanely cool close up photos on these if you have a good camera (which I do not).

Definitely impressed by Milky Way. The texture and materials feel perfect to my fingers. This might be the best feeling keycaps I’ve ever tried. Sound profile is nice as well. I may think about picking up the unmanned playground set.

Don’t think I haven’t thought about picking up that Alice90 board that Han shows these keycaps on as well… Must… restrain… self…

I’ll wait until my heritage color Minerva LX shows up to see how these look on it. That was the original plan. But that Alice90 has been sitting on zfrontier for a while and I’m gonna be sad if they eventually sell it.

Oh yea that Alice board that Han made and I think there’s another board he has made since that Alice, have such cool aesthetics but also come with a price tag that will leave your wallet feeling cold iirc.

The Hash Line keycaps kinda look like they’re filled with the lead that’s in pencils to me, I think because it has such a similar color to smeared pencil lead dust.

Interesting design, and if I read the product description right, I like the idea of UV printing on the underside of clear plastic.

The custom scene in-China/for-China seems to have a certain boldness and joy that doesn’t always connect with me, but sometimes does, and that I can certainly appreciate. Are the dark rectangles related to the injection molding process?

yes, the dark spots are the clear plastic that makes up the form of the keycap. The first shot is the gray metallic plastic, the second shot is a clearish plastic that pushes through those holes to fill the mold. It’s a really unique color, b/c HAN didn’t pick a clear plastic, it actually looks like older plastic that has gone ever so slightly foggy and yellow. I have no idea how they did the UV printing. It seems to be under the clear plastic outer shell b/c i can’t feel it on the top. It’s almost like it’s printed underneath the second shot of plastic, which wouldn’t be possible :man_shrugging:

Can you share your plans for tune up?

I just got one, ran it stock, tried some lighter domes. However I am not happy with them. Still wouldn’t mind lighter domes though.

The topre experience has been weird one. Everyone has tried all these after market domes, but there is a lot of shade towards them. I guess what I am trying to say is that there is not a lot of consistency in what people like in the topre space.
