Looking at their Instagram, Discord, etc it appears that they have not posted anything in over 2 years. Just curious if they made any specific statement about bailing on keyboards, etc.
I’m mostly curious because I was thinking how much I’d love an MTNU Godspeed GB. It’s already run in SA, GMK CYL, MT3 and XDA. I think it would look great in MTNU as well though perhaps people would balk at not being able to have all of the custom legends (I just want the color).
I do remember this. There was also some fallout when Drop said that MT3 was “named after MiTo” which Matt3o and other’s did not take kindly to. I do love Godspeed blue though.
Seems like that would be (1) a pretty easy mistake for a small organization to make, and (2) pretty easy to walk back. Did somebody really screw things up?
He’s still lurking on his Discord. Me and a couple other designers realized he banned us from his server a while back for, um, also being designers? We’re really not sure. But that’s the thing we all had in common, so that was kind of hilarious.
Such a shame Mito is the way he is, dude had a few classic colorways already. Although I think Godspeed & Laser being so popular went to his head… Oh well, Godspeed is the only colorway from him I’d ever bother grabbing after hearing how much of an ass dude has been to other community members.
Yeah I remember that, LOL! Definitely a missed opportunity by dorp & mito, as I agree apparel inspired by keycap colorways could be really cool if done right. Just a decently visible IC or two, to see how interested people would be for shirts, hoodies, coats, pants, etc. What colorways & designs. etc., etc. But they couldn’t even be bothered to do that. Just let mito come up with some dumb shit & pushed it on the site…
That was back when Drop was just drop shipping everything. I think it was a neat idea, but the people interested in mass dropped clothes were not interested in mass dropped keyboards.
Everything was silo-ed. There is some interplay between audio, keyboards, pens, watches… you know, like desk items, and that was the stuff the kept for the longest.
He’s always been pretty rude and isolates himself from the community, and was supportive of an artisan clone maker in the past. Pretty much he can design keysets that people will like, but he is shit as a person.
