Are there any notable businesses that are currently taking orders for keyboard finishing in the US? I’m looking to get a keyboard (one that is currently cerakoted), sandblasted and refinished.
I haven’t used any online sources to have any of my boards cerakoted. I predominantly use a local place that does a good enough job. I don’t know that they’re setup to handle out-of-the-area customers so I won’t recommend them at this point.
I did find a couple online (spaceholdings, loobedswitches; both best avoided), but I’ve never used them before so I wouldn’t be comfortable recommending them.
I am amused to see that Cerakote now has a category for keyboards.

Ha. Yes, this was my initial plan back several months ago. Of course, both of these vendors have recently been in the public spotlight for not paying manufacturing invoices and failure to ship orders. So, I was hoping there was another I had not heard about.
There was definitely something in the back of my mind around those two vendors. Probably best to avoid them.
I wish P3D was still doing his thing, but he bowed out gracefully and much respect to him in that regard.
It would be worth while to look for a local place. That way communication should be easier and hopefully better. Depending on the finish you want to do it is also possible to talk to places that do cerakote (most likely a gunsmith).
There is one certified cerakote shop near me (pawn/gun shop). Yeah, when I visited there was an Event where the employees drew their firearms. So. Needless to say, I won’t be willing to return.
I did find another shop that does things like bikes and wheels and such (mostly powdercoating). I’m pretty sure he’d be able to sandblast it to a raw finish. I was kinda wanting a patina and clear coating after that. It would probably be a matter of finding someone who was interested in not only that money but also the process.
I simply don’t know of many good shops around me.
