Cherry MX Honey Switch Review

Hey all,

It’s been quite some time since I went over not just a silent switch but a silent tactile one. I figured what better one to do than Cherry’s first truly MX Yellow switch - The Cherry MX Honeys. And no you didn’t read that wrong, these are the first silent tactiles Cherry has ever made…

As always, thank you all for the continued readership, love, and support week in and out. I’ve got quite the line up of interesting switches here for the next month or two of review and I’m already excited to be working on them behind the scenes (as well as hopefully a few short articles too)!

Cheers,

Interesting, and somewhat disappointing.

I agree that MX Yellow linears would have been preferable for that colour. They seem interesting and I’ll have to try them. But the review definitely suggests that hand-lubing will be required for best results.

Does anyone know how the timeline on Cherry moving production is working out? I assume that all Cherry switches still available at retail were made in the customary facility.

Yeah my sentiments exactly too, I really wish Cherry would focus on smoothing out their molds some. I get the scratch is almost looked at as a feature nowadays, but I feel like there is significant room to tone it down & still have that feel. Also the more I think about it Cherry moving their manu all to China for switches might not be as bad as I fear.

If you think about it the Chinese manus are pumping out the best switches right now as far as feel & sound go. I’d like to say durability as well but its honestly to early to say that about anyone other than Gateron & maybe Kaihl. Thats the one thing I’ve felt Cherry has had over the newer manus as we all have seen decades old Cherry switches harvested & used in modern boards where they work just fine. I guess we’ll find out once Cherry starts putting out switches from their Chinese manu, not sure when that might be though.

Oh also @ThereminGoat awesome, thorough review as always! Hope youve been well & hope you can make the NK meetup!
