Exploring the IBM 4683 POS Matrix Keyboard P/N 76X0100

I just got this interesting keyboard, and with seldom photos of it online, I thought I’d take some photos inside and out for everyone.

As some background, the IBM 4683 was the company’s first PC-based point of sale system. The system is also known for having a buckling springs-based keyboard (P/N 76X0035, aka, the “Model M/AT”). This P/N 76X0100 keyboard however is an ortholinear-style keyboard using Key Tronic foam & foil switches, both relative oddities for IBM.
