First Build: Stuck Stabs

Hey All! Diving deep into my first build - a Zoom 75. I have one stab which is pretty mushy, and another stab that, once I push on the keycap, the keycap sticks down.

Two bigger questions. Am I right in assuming that I used too much lube (Krytox 205)? Also, I used clip in stabs. Is there a way to remove the stabs without having to fully disassemble they board in order to remove and repair them??

It’s possible they’re overlubed, which isn’t hard to fix. If your board is hotswap you can remove the switch between the stab, and if there aren’t wedges in the clips they’re usually removable from the top side with some gentle wiggling. Might still have to disassemble to pop them out but worth a try.

For mushy in particular, overlubed is a distinct possibility, but getting them cleaned to the point where it’s “better enough” to determine if that was the issue shouldn’t be hard. If it is, then finish cleaning.

For a fully stuck stab, there are other possibilities as well, such as the stab being assembled incorrectly, or the bars being bent. Try to get a feel for exactly where it’s getting stuck, what the feel is like during a keypress, and how much effort is needed to get the key back up (though if it’s a lot, be careful!).

Thanks, all!! Turns out I incorrectly assembeled the stab. Totally working now. Very fun learning
