[GB] Centromere and Centromere Mini Wireless Split Keyboards

Hello all!

I have two new designs being made available today. Both keyboards are split, wireless ergonomic keyboards that can be customized via QMK, and both can use hot-swap sockets. The Centromere can use Kailh Choc or MX switches (with MX switches potentially being hot-swappable), while the Mini only uses Choc low profile switches (either permanently soldered or hot-swappable).

The Centromere keyboard is a split wireless ergonomic keyboard that can be built with both standard Cherry MX style switches and low profile Kailh Choc switches. It is fully programmable and customizeable. The Centromere can also use hot-swap sockets to change out your switches at will. Two colors of plate options are available, black or white.

It comes with a USB receiver module that allows you to customize the keymaps and layers via the popular QMK framework for mechanical keyboards. Having a receiver allows you to minimize wireless latency compared to a board with Bluetooth, and allows for extended battery life. Program the keyboard and change the keymap with a single command by downloading the QMK fork from the Southpaw Design Github. The Centromere and Centromere Mini keymaps should be in mainline QMK repository soon.

The kit includes the wireless receiver, PCBs, mounting hardware, and plates of your choice. All keyboards will be pre-programmed with default keymaps, so you just need to solder switches to get started with your new Centromere. It features an on-off switch to save power and prevent errant keypresses when traveling with the board. Each half is powered by a CR2032 coin cell battery. One coin cell battery will last a couple of months of daily use.

I will also make the hot swap sockets available if you want to purchase them together with the keyboard kit:

I’ll be getting a number of hot sockets for the purposes of the group buy, however it’s likely to be cheaper for you to get them directly from Kailh or from an outfit that has higher volume than I do. I’ll be adding them as an option here for the purposes of convenience to get everything from one place.

The group buy will run for three weeks from 1/11 to 2/1. Delivery should be expected sometime in March-April 2020 depending on quantities.
