[IC] ANSI60 || 60% 4mm Keyboard Plate || PC & Aluminum

Hello all,

I have posted this to Geek Hack also, but it’s been over a week and my post has not been approved. I messaged the moderator of the Geek Hack interest checked forums, and they have not replied yet. So I thought I would make this post here also.

I’ve got the prototype complete. If you guys have any suggestions of where I should sell this or if anyone would like to partner with me, please let me know.

Introduction / Vision

Introducing the ANSI60 — a 4mm keyboard plate crafted for enthusiasts seeking to push the boundaries of typing acoustics and feel.
At nearly three times the thickness of a standard 1.5mm plate, the ANSI60 transforms vibrational behavior, producing a crisper, more rounded tone with a fuller frequency response across the sound spectrum.

More than just thicker — the ANSI60 delivers a distinct typing experience unlike standard 1.5mm plates. With its unique resonance and acoustic profile, it offers a sensation that feels fresh, refined, and completely new to the community.
The result is a typing experience that is denser, more balanced, and richly resonant compared to conventional designs.

Variants & Pricing

ANSI60 4mm Aluminum Plate — $99
High mass and rigidity deliver a precise, snappy response with a bright, articulate acoustic profile.

  • Color experiments so far: Orange, Rose Gold, Silver (brushed)

  • Community input wanted: Final colors are not set — please suggest finishes you’d like to see (e.g., Chrome Silver mirror)

ANSI60 4mm Polycarbonate (PC) Plate — $99
Slightly more yielding with natural dampening, producing a warmer, smoother resonance while still benefiting from the 4mm thickness.

Why 4mm?

Compared to the standard 1.5mm plate, the Kova Keys – ANSI60 4mm plate provides:

  • Greater acoustic depth → tones are less sharp, more controlled

  • Full-spectrum response → low, mid, and high frequencies blend into a more cohesive sound

  • Enhanced stability → firmer key feel, reduced flex without compromising comfort

Key Features

  • Thickness: 4mm (substantial increase over standard 1.5mm plates)

  • Materials: Aluminum (bright and rigid) or Polycarbonate (smooth and warm)

  • Acoustics: Crisp yet rounded, with a more complete harmonic profile

  • Precision Fit: Tested for popular 60% PCBs and mounting styles

Notes:
The typing test demonstrates the warmer, smoother, and more dampened resonance of the ANSI60 4mm Polycarbonate (PC) Plate compared to the aluminum version.
The result is a softer, more rounded sound profile while retaining the added stability of 4mm thickness.

We need your input

What do you think of the ANSI60 4mm plate?

Tell us your picks:
• Layout(s) & PCB(s)
• Plate material (Alu / PC)
• Colors / finishes

Finishes in testing:
• Chrome Silver (mirror)
• Chrome Gold (mirror)
• Rose Gold (brushed)
• Silver (brushed)
• Orange (brushed)
• Other — add it in the form

Final color selections are still open.
Your input will directly shape what becomes available — let us know what finishes and materials you’d like to see.

About This

Prototypes (Alu + PC, 4mm) are built and tested. We’re ready to place a bulk order and are gauging demand to lock quantities, materials, and colors.
