Interesting Finds & Heads-Ups

This is another good point, what about Cherry purists? I’m open to all switches for the most part, but do agree there is something special about the OG Cherry switches. Even with other brands offering better performance & more exotic materials, some builds just call for a good Cherry black, brown, clear, red, etc. Also the new Nixies are one of my fav switches, I wonder how they’ll fare with the change? Glad I somewhat stocked up on them already, but now knowing they’re moving the manufacturing I kinda want to stock up on a bunch of current MX2As & some of the HGs that are still available. Just in case there does end up being a stark difference.

I have recently moved back to them heavily just cause I got tired of leaf ping, spring crunch etc. in all the other switches.

I mod the Cherries with new springs and films, but I appreciate the consistency in their sound and leaves.

I did think of this as well. “German Cherries” vs. “China Cherries” on /r/mm might become a thing.

The bump on the MX Falcon looks similar to the MX Clear bump. I would have been interested in trying the MX Falcon if it weren’t for the long pole but seems like an option for those who wanted to try long poles from Cherry.

I agree completely - a cleaner MX Clear would be great.

Lots of springs work with them. But the long-pole is not what I am looking for.

The best part about this is that it doesn’t have the nubs that MX Clear/Purple/Grey has. They could honestly release another colorway and name it whatever they want, as long as it has full travel with an updated Clear stem.

Silent tactiles from Cherry is definitely a :eyes: for me.

I’m also curious about the IK switches, as it’s a whole new technology I’d not seen before for keyboard switches.

Bauer Lites on sale this weekend for $85.

As someone who specifically collects “entry customs”, this one is probably my favorite that you can still buy, and probably the most premium-feeling plastic keyboard on the market.

I would probably buy one if it weren’t for the fact that I saw a green version in their recent Instagram post. Gonna wait to see what new colors are coming

Haven’t really been interested in 65% for quite awhile now but I almost bit on Bauer Lite at that price. Managed to hold off, but I know I’ll eventually grab one. I’ve always loved the symmetry of the Bauer with the double blockers, just ended up either going with a different board or didn’t have the money when the big boy Bauers ran & it’s looking the Lite will be available for the foreseeable future so it’s been just as easy to push off as it it to cave with this particular board for me.

Its pricey, but im trying to fanagle it into my finances before the GB is over. Not sure if I’ll manage it or not though, got a lot of house & vehicle expenses coming up soon too.

At $988 CAD, I think I’ll buy two.

Seriously, though, the Diversity recently offered a similar version of this layout.

It’s great that Cherry’s workplace keyboard designs are being taken seriously. Would like to see some using synthetic materials, as well.

  • I’ll wait for the Alexotos review before I buy 2.
  • I think his review should focus on the utility of buying several 21XX.

I like heavy boards but this one is gonna be a desk crusher. :joy:

Definitely need a plastic version, whether it’s polycarbonate or injection molded. I can’t see this being a popular enough form factor to justify injecting molding. It’s a shame.

I missed the Diversity by a day(thankfully :money_with_wings::money_with_wings:).
Alex dropped his review on this unit already, it’s where I saw it haha. Let us know what 2 colors you get! :stuck_out_tongue:

Perhaps I could buy several, to mix-and-match upper and lower cases.

Definitely getting one, just torn about which color to get. Probably the warm grey, but the blue does look awesome.

And yeah, it’s a lot like the Diversity, but they def have different design directions they went in. I will be quite pleased to have both (well, assuming everything goes well and they get here).

Another HSA set over on KBDFans (looks like they fixed the listing, as it originally said Cherry profile but they are def HSA).

Pet peeve: even if one doesn’t need a 40s enter at 1.75u, caps lock is the single most remapped key on the main 60% block. More kits should have options at R3 1.75u. Control (the choice here) is somewhat common due to Unix and HHKB layouts, Function less so, and Enter rarer still. But then novelties, which could serve as any of them, are almost impossible to find.

Is this Gameboy-style HHKB real?
