Is this keyboard grounds for RMA?

Got this board 7 days ago, the switch started feeling as though it was stuck in some kind of goo, taking the keycap and switches off and it looked like this - should I try to get this replaced?

When I took the switch off from the keyboard, with the keycap, it felt fine when it was pressed - but when I put it back on the keyboard, the same issue restarted, where it felt like there was a lot of friction when typing that key.

This is my first mechanical keyboard, so I’m operating a bit blind here.

Any feedback welcome. Keyboard is the Weikav Nut65 with the White Jade linear switches.

That is a thin layer of PE foam sitting between the switch and the PCB. It’s a modification that became popular a few years ago and is often included on keyboard kits (especially hotswap boards).

It changes the sound of the switch slightly. I never use it and prefer the sound and feel without it. I don’t think it would make the switch feel gooey. Is it just one switch or all of them? If it’s just one it may be overlubed or perhaps defective and just needs a replacement switch.

You can disassemble the board and remove the foam if you wish.

I meant to ask, is the foam damaged from what you can see?

No, everything looks normal to me

I suppose it’s possible the switch is either damaged or not fully together. Sometimes when the top and bottom housing aren’t pressed together fully the switch can bind.

The switch above the H key in your photo looks like it may have been damaged from removing it. (Easy to do when the switch is in a tight fitting plate).

I’ve often cracked the small plastic part above the led hole when removing a switch. Some are particularly more brittle But it doesn’t always effect the switch, just really a cosmetic issue

Perhaps the one you have issues with has a broken part on the top housing making so it doesn’t seat on the other half properly when in the plate? And maybe it closed correctly when you took it out and tested it?

Also, have you tried different keycap on it? Sometimes keycaps has burrs on the post that goes into the switch top when you press down and it can rub

Just guessing from things I’ve previously experienced
