Looking for the right keyboard

I’m looking for a very high-end mechanical keyboard and would appreciate some recommendations.

My requirements are fairly specific:

  • Full-size or 98% layout with a numpad (this is non-negotiable).

  • Premium CNC-machined metal construction, ideally aluminum throughout.

  • I’m especially drawn to the industrial, sculptural design language of the Serene Industries Icebreaker—minimalist, monolithic, and more like a luxury design object than a typical keyboard.

  • Ready to use. I’m not interested in sourcing parts or building a custom from scratch.

  • Budget: €2,000–5,000.

  • I’d prefer something I can actually get relatively quickly rather than waiting a year for a group buy or commission.

For context, I already ordered an Icebreaker because I love the design, but I’m treating it as a side option since it doesn’t have a numpad. I’m still searching for what would essentially be an “Icebreaker with a numpad.”

Does anything like this actually exist? I’m aware of boards like the Neo98 and Keychron Q6, but those don’t quite reach the level of industrial design or exclusivity I’m looking for. I’m also open to boutique makers or obscure manufacturers if they offer a fully assembled board or something that can be delivered without an extremely long wait.

I’d be interested in hearing what you would buy with this budget, or whether the only realistic option is commissioning a custom build.

P.S. I also ordered a Norbaur but thankfully they emailed me saying - it’s just the base. So I cancelled that.

This is quite the list, I’m afraid. The market for keyboards in that price range is vanishingly small, more so in a layout that’s not as fashionable, and the thing about stuff like the icebreaker is that it’s also polarizing, so even the people who will make things like it aren’t going to just keep stock lying around.

You might see if either Vescovo Typewriters in Italy or Keymacs in Czechia has something in stock, but the simple reality is you’re probably looking at something at least partially bespoke. Keymacs in particular builds cases that aren’t a world apart from the Icebreaker’s design language and IIRC they can do custom layouts, including ones more familiar than their usual fare, as long as they are limited to five rows. Might also try poking around Mechmarket or Ai03’s Keyboard Atelier Discord to see if anyone has an older board lying around (Drift Mechanics Austin?) or the bandwidth to do a quick turnaround; at that price they just might.
