I need help trying to fix the keys that are not responding which are adjacent keys such as (N-M-,-.-Rshift-UParrowkey-Pagedown). Problem started when i was trying lube the switches two weeks ago and might’ve been to hard when pulling one of the switches on that row. I started to notice that the socket underneath the “N” Key got lifted and had no idea how to troubleshoot it. I only put a tiny bit of glue stick to stick the pads in place and didn’t bother to alter anything. The other keys seem to respond very well including the (Lshift-Z-X-C-V-B).I also upload a photo below for greater context and to check the PCB condition better. I would really appreciate any suggestions or solutions to help with this problem.Greatly appreciated
So, you are saying that you have several keys (in the photo, the hotswap sockets that are empty), that are not responding. And this is the case with switches you know to be installed correctly and were previously working? And it all happened at the same time?
I don’t think you can lift a pad from taking a switch out, but you can definitely break a hotswap pad off by pushing a bent pin into the socket too hard. I can’t tell the state of the hotswap pads from the photo. I need to be able to see closer. Can you show us a closeup photo of the suspected hotswap socket that may be damaged?
If you damaged one socket, it shouldn’t make several stop working. So, I suspect something else is happening.
But most of all, we need closer photos to determine. Also, you may want to check the other side of the PCB (the one we can’t see in the photo) to see if you’ve possibly scratched a trace. You can also upload of photo of that area for us to look at if you aren’t sure.
Yeah, this feels like it’s maybe a folded matrix, and when the ‘N’ socket’s pad lifted maybe the trace for the half-width “row” got taken out as collateral damage. If so, this one might be tedious to troubleshoot and fix.
I think that’s just the flash washing them out in the photo. I thought that too at first. There are a lot of traces above that key. And they all run to a via to the other side. Need better pics i think
