As titled, I don’t like that clicking links takes me away from keebtalk, I realise I can open in a new tab but I would quite appreciate links opening outside of the application by default.
I could quite possibly be alone in this however!

Not alone! I’d love it if following links led to new tabs
I’m sure you’re aware, but middle-clicking a link opens it in a new tab, which is standardised behaviour across browsers.
With that said, external links opening in a new tab would be a good option for the preferences page.
There’s an option in preferences to do exactly what you want.
Go to Preferences -> Interface and toggle “Open all external links in a new tab”.
