Here’s an indoor shot. Seemed to be a lot of confusion elsewhere with how the sunlight was affecting keycap color.

The keyset is really nice

its way darker than the renders tho or is that just the lighting?

BWAHAHAHA! This is my first time looking at the renders.
Yeah… they look nothing like that.

Holy moly that is so radically different between reality and render :eyes:

Yeah. Luckily for me, the only reason I ordered the the caps was because they weren’t white or black and they were in stock. Short of that, I made it a point to not look at the renders because I knew they’d be off. Actually having seen the renders now, it’s crazy that they would have even given them the same name.

I wonder if this person got an early sample because they look far different than mine. (And still far off from the render)

Well these people make some great points esepcially the last post with the cable matching

Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way defending them. Just stating that I personally don’t rely on their renders because of their terrible track record. They should 100% being doing a much better job. Esp since they are not charging any less than other vendors that do have quality control under… control.

I can understand the disappointment. When expectations don’t match with reality, disappointment follows.

However, I don’t understand why people struggle to comprehend color management. Because no matter what the render shows, between color errors in the viewer’s monitors to the impact of lighting effects on the rendering, the only real way to know what the color might look like is to view a calibrated color swatch, under the lighting conditions they’ll view the item under. And even then, it may only be “close”.

I used to work for an online furniture store and we always had big disclaimers to not just order a couch from the pictures, we provided probes we would send via mail and asked people to check the feel and color look.
Also companies making couches always inform you when you order another armchair for example that color matching is not guaranteed and thus no ground for returns.

With TKC, it’s the volume of things they get wrong that makes it that much more jarring when it happens. Also, it’s not off by means of appearing off. I would class the render vs. what was delivered as different colors. Not just being off.

I think that might be a great idea for these keycap offerings. Make color samples available somehow. That or make it really clear in the offering that the colors are only representative, not actual.

@Den-Fi; I kind of look at these things in isolation with TKC, and yes I’m definitely aware of their reputation, but I’ve also done business with them and have been satisfied. I do think that you may have missed my point about the renders, they’re never going to represent the actual color. The only thing that can represent the colors with any accuracy is a calibrated swatch book.

Yeah I got that. As a photographer that constantly has to remind people that they’re using cheap, un-calibrated screens, that was never lost on me. Was just pointing out that stigmas often make problems seem a lot worse than they actually are which is why the reactions after often so different.

Last week, there was the M122 trio. Now, there’s the Model M13 featuring all three OEMs (Lexmark, Maxi Switch and Unicomp)!

Okay, we’re on the same page then. Apologies if I came across too strongly too, I had a past life of doing work with offset press printing.

Yes, renders and even pictures of a product will never be 100% accurate, however, TKC bad, they’re on my personal blacklist.
