Is there a mechanical keyboard with a Swiss Mac keyboard layout? I don’t want a PC layout. I also use a Mac for work and don’t want to have different keyboard layouts—that would just confuse me. AI recommends me “Keychron K1 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard”, but it seems not Swiss keyboard. It seems US layout.
I’m not sure of the best place for you to order, but a Swiss ISO K1 does exist:
Note that if you hunt down Swiss ISO keycaps on AliExpress or some other vendor, then any ISO keyboard should work if you set your operating susyetm to expect the Swiss layout.
IIRC, the K series are usually steel plates and plastic cases, sometimes shrouded in an aluminum frame. They are a mid-range offering from Keychron, who has gotten big enough that they get economies of scale. Their Q3 selections would be the higher end “tenkeyless” option, but they do seem to be sold out in Swiss ISO.
Thanks. But those are wireless keyboards. I have a KVM switch and need a keyboard with a USB cable — one for two MacBooks Air with a physical KVM switch button.
I don’t think any Keychrons are wireless only. My wife now uses a K4 Pro with a KVM after using it wirelessly for a year.
Again though, any ISO mechanical keyboard should respect your Mac OS keyboard layout choice for Swiss. Keyboards with QMK/VIA could be programmed with the Swiss layout regardless. While the options are not generous, Swiss ISO keycaps are available on AliExpress and other vendors, possibly even Keychron IIRC.
Keychron is the only brand that sells stock mechanical keyboards with swiss keycaps including Mac modifier keys, but instead of hunting available pre-builds, better invest in a good custom build and swap keycaps. Since Swiss Layout is super rare (and Mac even more), you can design your own set on yuzu keycaps. They support cherry, kam, pbs and pff (low profile) keycap profile.
