AFAIK they got behind with delivery cause they took on too many cerakoting projects & are just trying focus on getting caught up. Space has been around for awhile & Ragan seems like a stand up dude from any interactions I have had with him. I canāt say for 100% sure, but I doubt he would just go completely silent & let things totally fall down.
I have so many wild thoughts about this. It will be interesting to see what actually happens with this partnership.
Same. Maybe Iām jaded by rumors, but I thought that Keycult had withdrawn from the community with some soured feelings all around. Maybe I misjudged. Mike has made pretty stellar decisions in the past.
First of all, Iām sorry. Anyways: WHY DOES PEOPLE LIKE COMPACT 75% KEYBOARDS (the really compact) ?! I mean I donāt get it, is it just me or do they look so ā¦ chunky??? Personally, I think that they look so weird, especially the Keychron K2 V2
So, I have two of them, and while neither is a daily driver, I appreciate the layout because it is quite compact but includes virtually every key on a TKL. It is indeed a bit of a chonk compared to, say, 60% or 65% but itās as narrow as the 65% and has the same number of rows as a TKL or Full size. The arrow keys are easy to locate because they are in the corner, so you only really have 7 keys to learn because theyāre in the āwrongā spot, unless youāre trying to touch type on your function row. Itās the smallest popular layout where you might plausibly refuse to use layers. Itās sort of a function over form thing while still staying compact.
Also, do we need an āunpopular opinionsā thread ala geekhack?
Iām using a compact 75% as one of my main daily-driver boards. Pictures here: Post Your Keyboards! - #3261 by yeeb
I guess it all just comes down to individual preference. Personally, I really like the look of it, and think this sort of layout strikes a very nice balance between compactness and having just enough keys to avoid layers / macros. In short, I agree with everything that @wjrii just said.
75% are the most compact layout that allow you to not use layers (most of the time).
While I like this layout (I designed and manufactured one for my personal use), I tend to prefer TKLs nowadays because muscle memory makes me a tad more efficient with this standard layout.
The switches from my Keyboard from a Chinese State owned Ship Company. Not only because they are basically identical to actual Cherry switches in terms of molds, but because some of the LEDās are different from the rest and they had to straight up dremel the Switch housings to make the LEDs fit.
You know the saying:
āWhen life gives you lemons, you get out the rotary tool.ā
The Dremel Iāve got
makes the talent Iām not.
I definitely donāt use a dremel and bench grinder to avoid having to buy screws of the proper length for scratch builds.
Buzz makes the hole go round?
Waitā¦
KKB Buff Bride GB was cancelled after in GB for only a week. Pretty bummed, I liked the set. I think this my first GB that didnāt hit MOQ.
Ima be honest Iām surprised it even made it out of IC with how niche (at least in my mind) of a meme/reference it was making. Regardless of that though, the set does look really nice from a color and novelties perspective.
I can see that, however at the end of the day it was mostly a FF7 set, which I would have thought would do better.
I think it is one of those weird things where you donāt want to advertise it too much that it gets flagged by IP stuff, but you also need to market it some what.
Iāve purchased several keycap sets and switches because I liked them without realizing they were referencing some anime characters/shows and found out after the fact.
Google Japan has this series with quirky input devices unveiled every year on October 1st. With fellow keyboard enthusiast Ikeji as part of the team.

What elevates these Gboard projects from mildly amusing April Fools-like jokes to fascinating is the fact that they actually design and build them. Itās a complete waste of corporate time and money and I wholeheartedly approve!
Footnote: if you argue that itās manufactured viral marketing and publicity for the āfunā side of Google, youād also be correct.
I doubt its for publicity (could be the case in recent years) as if you see their ideas/videos from when they starting doing this yearly tradition, itās way more scuffed and dumb but in a good way ofc. I just love that theyāre keeping the tradition alive and the amount of work going behind it is awesome, bonus points because they release all the files and instructions in order to actually make one on their github.
I canāt think of any keebs Iād actually use this with, but I love the utilitarian idea of this kinda goofy lilā thing. I love my tri-mode keyboards, and there are a few of them that I really wish had on-board dongle storage. This doesnāt really jive with the aesthetics of any of the ones I have, but it does kinda fit with the Class1800 in the photo and its fairly conspicuous forehead-chunk.
