Maybe Iām just the only one here, but Iāve never seen any of his content. Iāve heard that name here and thereā¦not in the keyboard space though.
Same here. Iām old though.
Those were better days. Lol.
Matthew was with āthefuturā a couple of years back. As with most of the feedback here, I donāt feel the substance in his videos. But hey, everybody has different needs.
Happy Weekend Yāall
Canāt say Iām familiar with him beyond, I think, maybe it was a brand collab keyboard of his (or maybe he himself?) in a Glarses video. I donāt keep up with the gamer/streamer realm in general. But I assume he has a sizeable following who will gladly spend money on things that he promotes and I can appreciate Novelkeys āgetting that bagā (is that a thing the kids still say?). I picture the type of folks that would purchase the TFUE x NK_ as being the type that would otherwise spend money on Corsair or Razer keyboards, and I think NK will do more with the money in terms of innovation and improvements in future products (at least from an enthusiast standpoint). Who knows, maybe this will suck more unsuspecting bystanders into the keyboard habit.
My only qualm is the notable branding on the front edge of the keyboard, I like that pink but not enough to rep a brand Iām not familiar with.
Man i love that keyboard āsponsored segment by capital oneā lol /s
Im 23 and i only know of tfue from his keycult build, ngl though i want both of those nk boards cause of the colors lol
Totally! Like, what ā¦

I did comment on that video and he did respond. I think he took the critisim well ā almost classy if Iām being totally honest.
I have a mad scientist dad who collects discarded electronics to harvest components; his basement drawers are full of Cherry, Alps, Omron, and other switches that have nothing to do with keebs. Mostly microswitches, but stuff like this, too.
That one looks to be an E6X series, or something similar:
I donāt know if youāve seen this (I think I linked it here before), but Cherryās history is pretty cool:
mecha.store hired an audiophile to be their social media manager. So of course, now weāre getting headphone graphs for keyboards.
I will say, the EQing of the sound tests and comments on mic positioning are on point. Iām almost certain a few keyboard content creators already intentionally position their mics to make their builds sound deeper, if not subtly fiddling with the audio in post.
Weird. Graphs are boring. Whether tweaked or not, I so prefer the sound test. I dig when those tests quickly toggle between different mics and deskmats ā you get a decent overall sense of what youād be hearing IRL.
I also have the ability to tell myself something sounds great even if others donāt agree with me. So Iāve got that going for me.
LOL same. My clack monster J02 is objectively the worst but I love it and nobody can tell me otherwise.
I feel like sometimes I march to my own beat when it comes to sounds. I like hearing my keyboards in different ways and appreciating why they have certain acoustics. But maybe Iām just jaded from the period when every typing test had the goal of trying to reach 0 on the decibel meter lol
I am pretty sure many people would dislike the sound of my Hidari, as it is very high pitched (clacky I guess). This is what I was after, as I already have a deeper sounding board, so I wanted a completely different sound with this board.
The only problem is I canāt get my spacebar to sound as high pitched as the rest of the keys, so I get this nice clacky sound, interrupted by a deeper āthudā every time I hit the spacebar.
I canāt fathom being new to the hobby in todayās environment. You canāt tell shit about a switch, keycaps, or a keyboard without typing on them. Imagine trying to buy a car based on how it sounds in a youtube video. I didnāt watch the video, and I bet heās not suggesting this is how you choose a keyboard, but there are certainly people out there who push sound over everything. Watch any twitch stream and the overwhelming comments are about sound.
These things have unique character. They all need to sound and feel unique. I get wanting a certain sound, but unless you have the exact same keyboard with the same keycaps and switches, itās going to be different. And even then, yes, microphones play some serious monkey business to actual switch sound.
For the time being, theyāre just quantifying what frequency range certain terms within the hobby fall into. Theyāre apparently planning on starting some sort of wiki/database site that will help quantify how different variables (keycaps, mods, boards, etc) can affect sound. The plan seems to be to apply the scientific method to some extent and measure 1 variable change at a time so Iāll give them the benefit of the doubt until they actually start producing data and we can really judge them.
That said, although he isnāt directly giving a sales pitch he is being paid by a store to, presumably, help sales. But to your point of actually trying them, mecha.store is a literal, physical store in Singapore that you can walk into and try keyboards before you buy them. So Iād give them a little more slack than pretty much every other keyboard retailer on that front.
