I placed an order with ThocKeys, since they’re hyper-local to me, and had DCS Soware Revival in stock (which I want to use as a moogle kit for some vintage Wyse caps I have).
I can’t recall seeing anything bad about them, and I bought switches there years ago without any problems.
But now I’m looking and see their updates page is outdated, their social media hasn’t been updated in months, and their Discord is full of complaints. It’s giving me Mechs & Co / MyKeyboard / Kono vibes, while I’d always thought of them as a reputable DCS-focused vendor.
I just made the order this morning. How worried should I be about receiving anything? Has anyone dealt with them recently?
Thanks! I think I’m hyper-wary about vendors now after being burned a couple times in the past year. But I didn’t do the level of research I typically do, since this was kind of a spur of the moment purchase, when my Wyse Soarer’s converter didn’t work and I wanted a plan B to salvage these old caps.
Bought luckily just some switches in April of 2025 and its not pretty much July and still havent gotten them. Tracking was updated but never shipped and have reached out via 8 emails and instagram and no response
So I found a reddit thread expressing similar issues but their order did show up eventually?
Read through all the comments for the full details, but one comment pointed out that it seems like ThocKeys shut down at the end of 2024, at least according to the banner they posted on their site late last year:
I have no idea why the banner was removed or their site is still running. It used to be a reputable company and I’ve ordered and received products from there at least once or twice, I think for a group buy, but that was years ago.
At this point, if you’ve done your best to reach out to the vendor directly, I’d recommend contacting your credit card company to initiate a chargeback.
Damn, sorry to hear man. Like @ListlessLlama said they used to be reputable & I’ve ordered a bunch through them in the past without issue. I would also second him in saying contact your CC provider to initiate a chargeback is probably your best bet at this point. I should also retract my previous endorsement from above. With them announcing shutting down at the end of last year & no word from them since I’d definitely advise not ordering from them at this point.
Sometimes someone buys the domain or takes it over later. If they are up to no good, they rebuild the old site and siphon off funds. But i have no idea, just my two cents because i have one case there i was scamped by this.
