A few thoughts come to mind. While they aren’t so anything truly customizable, I think Kailh has SKUs/colors that do most of the combinations of two different clickbar widths and, IIRC, three spring weights. For instance, the Pale Blues I believe have Navy springs and White bars.
In general, though, once buckling spring was phased out as the workaday keyboard, then honestly clickies were destined to diminish, and go into the west. Once a noise is removed from the office or den, it is a small (but perhaps consistent) number who will tolerate it for something as personal as typing feel, and an even smaller who will actively desire it.
For those who do actively like clickies, versus those who will seek a variant that is inoffensive enough to mesh with their actual preference for other types, I reckon Box White, Jade, and Navy – once they all stopped being made to break stems – sort of settled the market. There are a few folks who dislike the double click, and a few who want something as close to MX-stemmed Alps as humanly possible, but the Kailhs are better than clickjackets, and therefore “good MX clicky that is a reasonable value” is basically an answered question at this point, at least for those few Elves that remain.
Finally, being a card-carrying member of Team Clicky, I’m actually fairly sanguine about the HE future, because if HE and TMR actually push contact-switch boards out of the market, that changes very little. The Raptors show it’s perfectly viable to get clickbars into a magnetic housing, so eventually that’s what will be available on the fringes of the keyboard world, inhabiting roughly the same space they do now in hobby. Less useful actuation tuning is no big deal for those seeking defined tactility, clicky or not, since the PCBs we use for our current switches have no actuation tuning. If anything, a “set it and forget it” one time process will be of use to those who, for instance, don’t like that the Kailhs actuate an instant before the clickbar is tripped. For me, the fact that actuation occurs at some point on the way to bottoming out is all I need, but others seem to care. Go figure.
