[Vendor] Thockfactory – An online configurator for designing and ordering your own custom keycaps

Hi everyone!

I’m Emil, a keyboard enthusiast and software engineer from Germany. After getting frustrated that I couldn’t find any keycap sets that fit both my needs and my personal style, I decided to build my own solution: Thockfactory – an online store with a built-in custom keycap configurator where you can design and order your own dye-sublimated PBT keycaps.

I started prototyping in 2023 and launched the first version in April 2024. Even though I got some positive feedback, I quickly realized that the configurator and overall quality – both of the shop and the keycaps themselves – needed a lot of improvement. So I took the shop down and spent almost a year rebuilding everything and finding better manufacturing partners to improve the quality of the keycaps further.

Thockfactory 2.0 is now finally live! You can pick your layout (most are supported, and if yours isn’t, just let me know and I’ll do my best to add it asap), choose colors, legends, icons, and order directly. All sets use high-quality, thick PBT keycaps with dye-sublimated legends.

If anyone has questions about supported layouts, keycap profiles, manufacturing, or if you have any feedback or suggestions, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Do you have any photos of caps produced with your new pipeline?

I found some made with your old setup, I think they’re pretty impressive for custom 1-off keycap sets:

Hi there! Since I relaunched Thockfactory just a couple of hours ago, the placed orders have not yet been produced. So there are no set pictures of real customer orders yet.

The only prints I have done so far were calibration and testing sets used to optimize the process and improve coloring / print alignment. I can share pictures of one of those sets that I currently have here:

Thanks for the hi-res photo - color, detail, and clarity all look great to me! I’m curious to give this a try.
