What are you listening to today?

Holst’s The Planets, Op. 32

(Which will inevitably lead me to watch Gladiator and marathon Star Wars in the coming weeks.)

Have you heard Clutch’s cover of Fortunate Son? I thought they did a great rendition of it.

CCR was played up and down in my home when I grew up. Love this rendition a lot!

I’ll listen to some CD Ghost any day. I’m a sucker for clean synth sounds. Pretty impressive mastering for a couple of young dudes. They must know what they’re doing

Might be able to hit 200wpm if you listen to this one long enough :stuck_out_tongue:

@Extra_Fox :violin: :banjo: that one had me snapping my fingers, tapping my feet, and feeling the need to let loose a righteous whistle - but it’s 2:37 AM so I skipped the whistling

@sarvopari never even heard of that show, but what a score!

@dante you have chosen - or been chosen - to relocate to one of our finest urban centers…

@pixelpusher that cinematography tho - reminds me of GATTACA

Thanks to this thread (and the share-rides I’ve been taking while my car is in the shop) I’ve been getting exposed to all kinds of new music and I’m really enjoying it.

Alright so here’s mine for today - some old music:

Thanks to a random free-associative rabbit-hole I just fell down, it’s history time!

A streamer I was watching has a running gag with the word “bagel” where they pronounce it incorrectly. Like “bag-el”.

That made me think of an even more fun way to say bagel, the Russian “bublik”. (I’ll let you work out how the phonetics go on that one).

Why do I know the Russian word for bagel? Because of this old Klezmer song:

Written in the 20’s and very popular in the old Soviet Union, the song was popularized in the US in the late 30’s / early 40’s by the Barry Sisters there, as well as the trumpet player Ziggy Elman. I probably never would have heard it, if not another version (including some English at the end) by the modern Klezmer-rock band Golem:

Something about the album art caught my eye back in college, and next thing I knew I was getting down like a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man.
