What causes clicky stabs?

I have a keyboard that clicks when you lightly tap the stabs. This is a common issue, but what two objects collide to make the sound? Can those objects be treated with felt or foam to reduce the noise?

The metal wire contacting the inside of the stab slider without any padding or dampening is what causes clicky stabs. Lube is the easiest & most common way to kill click or rattle from stabs, but there is a few mods out there like the Rama heat shrink mod, Holee mod, or Epsi mod that attempt to use materials like heat shrink, leftovers from Deskey films, or bandaids to kill rattle. Personally I have never had much of an issue quieting my stabs with lube & refreshing it every so often so I never gave any of the mods using an actual material a try. Out of the three the Epsi mod (uses leftovers from Deskey films) seems to be the most liked & successful one.
