You prefer split backspace on 65%? I thought you were saying that the hotswap had split backspace and I got really bummed out. Had to pull out my PCB to double check. Ha. Hotswap is full backspace. I have a few spilt boards, but I have a hard time on them ususally.
Dodads!
- Titanium switch puller from Wuque
- FR4 ruler from Wuque
- FR4 plate for KBD67L from hypekeyboards.ca

Anything less than tkl and I want my split backspace, yeah.
How do you like the Wuque switch puller? Would you say itās a lot sturdier than your average switch puller?
I have one of those $5 pullers that everyone sells and I had a hell of a time getting box switches out of a sturdy plate with it. Kept bending the little puller tabs that contact the switch and ended up damaging a few switches.
First impressions are that itās the best switch puller Iāve ever used, and that my fingers and switches are already thanking me. So far, much sturdier than the stamped-sheet design most pullers use.
I just put this one through the most grueling test I know; pulling a JWK switch from the backspace slot of the NK65EE. That right there has claimed a fair few switches, at least one switch puller, and a bruised knuckle or two.
The titanium puller passed. I had to give it a good firm-but-careful wiggle while squeezing the clips for a few seconds (which would have destroyed a typical puller, especially if itās been bent before), but the switch popped out with no damage and the puller retained its shape as well. Just this past weekend I removed those same switches from that same board, and it took at least an hour involving awkwardly pushing from the other side while squeezing the clips with a puller.
With one of these Iād probably still have sore hands at the end, but Iād still have intact fingernails too, and I wouldnāt have to take the board apart to get the switches out. Really, I think the only thing to improve from here is the ergonomics - the shape of the tines is just right, the material is strong - make it fat-finger-friendly and weāll have a 5/7 perfect puller.
I got it all put together tonight, gonna wait for tomorrow and some better lighting to try to get a nice pic but hereās a quick one
lovely. what switches?
Hereās my crappy pic. Iām tired and sick of dropping keycaps. Going to bed. Taro ball switches for now.
Wow that looks great! The black looks nice. All the colors were bangin
Thanks for the detailed response on this! These are the exact kind of situations that are so frustrating with my current switch puller, so itās great to hear this Wuque one worked better. Just put in an order for it
Now if I could only find a switch opener that would open both sides of my U4T switches at the same time, Iād really be in business lol
Really impressed with my first use of buyee. Super fast service.
Iām so torn now. I love the way this one feels. Iāve had a type-s 660, but never a type-s HHKB. I wasnāt planning to take this one apart since itās an anniversary edition, but it would be amazing in the heavy grail. Grrr⦠do I need to buy a 3rd HHKB now???
I really like this set. Some of the legends come way too close to touching the top or side of the keycap - oddly not the alphas. But like the ^ ( | { } ? and some of the others are really close to the top of the keycap⦠I donāt think this was a printing error, it looks like a design error on the part of the designer, because the bottoms are aligned very well.
Still a beautiful set. I use 40% keyboards so I wouldnāt see those legends anyway
on that note I believe it came from the 40s Discord originally (Smol Cadet I think) so it should have good compat.
I just realized that the keycap I put in the top right is a 40s novelty on a 75% board.
Luckily the legend placement doesnāt bother me too much. The texture feels pretty good for a full dye-sub set and the legends are pretty decently sharp for a reverse set.
I am in tears that I missed this set
Wow. I donāt think I can top all that, but I got a final proto in for a case Iāve been designing for a while.
Meet Solo, frozen in Carbo- I mean aluminum.
as you can see, there are some ano defects on the bottom, as well as a couple spots they machined incorrectly, but this was to be expected with the manufacturer I use for prototyping. Feels blasphemous to use a board with a number row, but iāve gotta say, full punctuation and symbols without a layer feels nice.
