What did you get in the mail today? (Part 1)

thanks for the great pics!

I finally got my order of GMK Nimbus! Very excited to put it to use

Gehrin came yesterday but I just now opened it.

Never seen top and bottom fastened this way. Very clever. Torx10 at a slight angle

And it looks like you can do the classic 9 point top mount or opt for a bottom edge mount on just 4 points. Nifty! Since it’s hotswap, I’ll probably build it soon. Waiting on some switches from Unikeys at the moment

I got my Class60 in the mail today. No warning, order still says “in process”.

I can’t believe how many pieces are in the kit. I feel overwhelmed looking at the contents. Definitely going to be a longer build.

For some reason I didn’t get the EC kit I ordered. I ordered it a day after my first order. So maybe I have to wait another month to get that part? :man_shrugging:

The red is really nice. The black anodized bottom is the nicest finish I’ve ever seen on a keyboard.

HMX Canglan v2 | Grain Gold Mint Bubble Gum | Duhuk Lumia Matcha v4 Pro (that’s a mouthful)

In hand, the Lumia Matcha are the smoothest material I’ve ever felt in a switch. It’s actually a bit odd it’s so smooth.

But Matcha v4 Pro they are defective((((
The “stem” clearance is less than necessary. Just a lot less.
You can live, but you don’t want to live with this for long.

Okay. I’ll check that out. Thanks for the heads up

Are you saying the keycap stem will rub the top housing? I tried a few with GMK and ePBT and didn’t notice anything unusual.

Not the effect of friction - sticking. On the contrary)))
The effect of emptiness. THE MOST maximum wobble “stem” that I have seen in my life.
Since it hangs around inside, even relubrication will not help.

Thanks for the heads up I was eyeing up ordering a batch of them myself this week. Guess I’ll wait on the revision. Although being a super small stem width wise is probably why they are so smooth LOL!

I bought it at the same time with my friends. 4 people. Everyone has this. Everyone likes the click, and so do I. BUT I don’t want to type the text at all, this is the most disgusting wobbly.
And then I went to Chinese social networks and almost all the comments under videos or photographs write about the same thing.

If we make a rating of switches for 2023.
WHO is the worst switch - Matcha pro v4

I have a switch also full LY material.
Flower shadow switches.
Therefore, when I saw the “IC” and the big story of how they created what materials. There was just a colorful big story there (as it turned out, marketing was common). I immediately wanted them.
They started in January in China. Time limited sale.
I decided to buy. BUT. They were bought out literally in 20 seconds.
Then there was another round of sales and again they bought it in 2 minutes.
And just when I thought everything could be forgotten, they were sold on Aliexpress. I bought it right away.
A sad story of false hopes)))) :disappointed_relieved: :disappointed_relieved:

For today, the sad stories are over.
I’ll start with the good ones)))

Okay these must be a different version of the switch because there is wobble but not anything like that. Hmm.

I’ll definitely put these in a hotswap board and not solder them. Something must be amiss.

Speaking of bad switches, I would not hesitate to put the Gateron EF Curry as worst I’ve tried in a while.

Now, worst of all time has to be a tie between the tacit switch and RGB cherry speed silver. There’s not a single part of either of those that you can even reuse. They’re a complete loss.

Huh, I’ve had a bunch of people tell me they really liked those switches. I’ve been on the fence with them since they are meant to be a budget switch & Gateron doesn’t have the best track record with their cheaper offerings. On the other hand Smoothies are priced like a budget switch, but those are great. I actually did use them stock in my TKL One & am totally happy with them! What about the Curry switches puts them on your bad list?

ooh, Thank you for the Loopy switch Photos. That confirms to me that they are made by LCET, or Xunlei now after their renaming, just like the CC Sakura i received recently. It’s good to see more LCET. How do they feel?

This is a ray of sound “Tok” in the kingdom of darkness of the clatter and high-pitch of stock switches))

They are very cheap. They put it in a jar for free +1 switch. So that you can keep it for your collection.
All parts are lubricated here with grease. Even some will say that there is too much lubricant. There is a lot of lubrication on the stem, the spring, and the bottom.
The pressing is pleasant, smooth, the sound is clear.
While I was still poking around as usual, I have a video.
This week there will be a national holiday, this gives me an extra day off, I will install them in the keyboard to try long typing tests.

They feel like an old KS-3 with way too much lube in the bottom housing. It’s almost like a silent switch but it’s from the lube. I guess I don’t like the feel or sound. Price and color are nice.

I can see why someone might like these if they haven’t tried many switches. It would be like recommending Burger King to someone who hasn’t ever tried a hamburger. I mean, I guess it’s not McDonald’s, but there’s not a lot about it that’s great.

And there is a whole world of better options out there that are so much better for just a small price increase
