What did you get in the mail today? (Part 2)

This build is with the aluminum gasket plate. I did buy a sandwich plate but I’ve not tried it out yet.

Any idea what build these might go on at some point? They’re a bit few and far in between but I can think of a good few board colors those might go amazingly on.

Yep - I’m waiting on a beige / cream Tess65 (replacing an exit-scammed Shark67) to put them on, with some Gateron Type-Rs underneath. I’ve also got a couple burgundy boards they could end up on if the colors play nice. What do you have in-mind?

I suppose that I wasn’t so much thinking burgundy but some of the cream or off-white stuff that Matrix has put out over the years, old TX cases with some of their funky colors, and then recently that Carolina Mech Fossil full size which I’m pretty sure came in some fairly unique neutral colors.

The work is mysterious and important.

Seeing this slab next to a magic mouse, and a floppy disc is so weird to me. (The key caps of bright white to contrast to the grey is cool)

Actually got this last week but never posted, more Bigu & Fugu goodness!

Whoa does that Bigu actually have a stem, and if so is it meant to work on those Novelkey Big Switches.

They do have cruciform mounts on them, but they are definitely a good bit smaller than the NK Big Switches. The only stems I could see them fitting is some of the OG Honeywell switches that used a large cruciform for keycap attachment. Although even then the body of the Bigu would be too big to fit in-between the switches. So no real way mount them onto any switches or KBs for now unfortunately. It would be awesome to have a small metal case to mount these on. Even if the cruciform was part of the case & not a switch. Gives me a few ideals actually!

Incongruous, I know. The floppy is my coaster, and I never got into properly caring about mice. I figure if I cared about both mice AND keyboards I’d be even more broke.

I finally caved and picked up the set from SwitchKeys. I was eyeballing it on SpaceCables for quite some time (a couple years at least) hoping for a sale that never came. Then when vendors were buying their extra stock ahead of them closing, no one happened to buy Fundamentals for some reason. Then SC shut down.

It’s a set that I never considered at the time of GB because I didn’t like how it looked in the renders. Low and behold, the final product was much different (the mods specifically), and suddenly this guy decided it was a must buy. I just couldn’t stomach the SC extras mark-up however. SwitchKeys pricing wasn’t bad at all – the international shipping sucked.

This nice switch tester was a surprise from Coffeekeys (Italy). Had most switches already, but the Gateron Magnetic Jade Ruby and Green Dragon were new to me, just like the EF Curry:

Just got a batch of TTC Silent Frozen V2 in. They seem pretty nice, and they will be going in my next build as soon as the rest of the parts for that come in.

PBS Blanks just arrived, I really like those. First impression of the profile seems even better than KAM, really like these. I still have to decide on which board to but them, but Im really temped for the Chiffre+ (again…)

Just received my F1-8X V2 shipped from Korea !

Hotswap Gondolindrim PCB, I like that this time there are leds only under the capslock and numlock keys.

And look at this, there are plenty vias around kailh hotswap pads !
This addition is a must to not rip hotswap pads during switches installation, great !

I will most probably build it somewhere in May.
I have some still unused 8008 Gateron Ink switches but I am not sure those are the best for this board.
I was planning maybe to buy some Gateron Oil King or Cherry MX New Nixies, don’t hesitate to give me feedback on what would be the best

And last picture is the unbuild F1-8X V2 in front of my own Aquanaut design.
A lot of inspiration designing this board comes from the F1-8X, a board that I never owned until today
