I have a full set of Quinns and they are my favorite switch so far. Comparing with a single Baby Kangaroo, I’d say that the Quinns seem very similar on the downstroke, but significantly deeper on the upstroke. The BK has a bit of a clackier top out, whereas the Quinns sound more consistent on the up and down. I’d definitely recommend trying them out.
Surprise from Zion Studios. The cardboard tube packaging is super nice, just like the mats themselves. I especially love the Charcoal Kanagawa one, as I see, it was a group buy in 2021.
I love that one with the big pink octopus in the amusement park.
Yep, cool design and great quality: Takoland Desk Mat | Takoyakeys x Input Universe
Perfect for everyday use, but a bit too colorful and too much going on for me to use it as background in keyboard reviews. The charcoal Kanagawa with its muted colorway seems to work better in photos where the protagonist is not the deskmat itself.
Got this 40lch kit from xianyu. 3d printed, but very nice. I’m only missing a PCB and brass screw inserts now. I wonder what it will sound like with that 3d printed material.
Also some “UPE” stems from xianyu (source of those random stems you see on aliexpress and taobao and such) but, to noones surprise, they are feeling stick-slippy in POM housings, so that answers the question what material they really are. No idea why they need to lie about materials.
This actually came in the other day but I just opened it today.
One of my favorite (real)screamo albums acquired on vinyl.
As The Roots Undo by Circle Takes The Square
Got a POM and an FR4 plate for my new Monsgeek M3. It came with a PC plate but wanted to see what difference the other make.
Another key switch tester (Akko) and some low profile Kalih choc switches for a macro pad I’m designing.
Only complaint I have about the switch sampler is there is no legend telling me which switch is which!
I needed some variety in keycaps and found these huge but affordable MDA sets by Akko. The white and black sets, double-shot btw, have 564 caps altogether. Even better, the accented caps are different: those of the white set are more on the pastel side, while the ones accompanying the black set are bolder and more vibrant. FYI, the black set looks a bit nicer and crisper imo, at least the basic alpha caps.
I did an order to Divinikey recently too, got the same sticker and I love it! Divinikey has had some killer sticker swag over the years.
More keycap sets need to include a “Rub Out” key…
Absolutely SAME!
I think my current count on hand is over 300 of them. I keep telling myself that they will find their way into boards, and then life gets in the way.
Also, not since the Vertex V1’s have I found a switch I liked so much for so cheap. Been seeing them go on sale for <$0.30/switch a few times now (hence the hoarding)…
I was surprised by how smooth CRP was when I first got my hands on a set.
Yup. To me, CRP texture felt like that of ivory.
Switch day, yay.
- TTC Red. nothing special there, i don’t even know why i bought those, tbh. POM stem, PC top, Nylon bottom as usual. Wobbly and pingy.
- Outemu ATK Spring Cherry/Sakura. Not sure about the Materials, i still need to find info about them, but those are quite good long pole Linears. Recent Outemus have just been so good. Barely any wobble and really smooth.
- BSUN Sonic. POM stem LY housing long pole Linear. Again, barely any wobble and really smooth. The sound is quite loud, at least in the hands, and a higher pitch.
- Infiverse Yunmu. Manufacturer seems to be JWK as the molds match some Durocks quite well. they are K3 stem and UPE housing long pole linears. Just like the others, barely any wobble and very smooth. The sound is somewhere between the Sonic and Sakura. Medium loud and medium high pitched, at least in the hand.
I’ve outdone myself with purchases lately. Too much to show, but I did pick up a set of DMK Jade caps that I’ve wanted for a long time. Got them yesterday. I’ll find the perfect board for them at some point.
