Must be out of the loop because I didn’t realize that Jae owned that shop… Definitely one of my absolute favorite people from early in the hobby. Used to love tuning into TopClack. Quakemz, @Manofinterests, and Jae were instrumental in getting me fully immersed in the hobby and really spoiled us with content.

Yeah I miss TopClack too… We still got Huey here when he has the chance to post & BS, then Jae is involved as ever with the hobby, although I do wonder how Quakemz is doing? I haven’t heard a peep from him since the TC days. I was never close with him, but I do hope all is well with him & he’s doing good.

Are these similar to the housings and smaller click leaf used in Melodics? I think they are both made by Gateron.

Yep, same click leaf as used in the melodics, but the top housing has an extra part that stops the leaf from making the click noise & just be tactile.

Unfortunately, I think country of origin for the product itself is going to be the decider for rates. So, the super high Chinese tariff rates will probably be in play.

He is still active in the Seattle Mech Discord and will say something occasionally but not all that often. Present, but I don’t really think his attention is on the hobby. I think he moved on to other interests.

Goin’ dumb for a while
I went dumb for half this year; I found that there were really only a few things I needed to have to be sufficient;
- Some way to call people; I told only the important people in my life my dumbphone number, and then told them to only contact me if not having an answer right at that minute disrupts their day
- Some way to have an emergency Uber or Lyft from Tremp or a local taxi service
- Some way to have access to knowledge I might need on the go like Google Maps or restaurant recommendations or such like SmarterDumbphone or TextItSearchIt
Carry a piece of paper with you so you can jot down to-dos or ideas, if you don’t already do this.
I’ve now been back on my smartphone for the last month or so, and my relationship with it is dramatically better, but also dramatically clearer. I downloaded Wikipedia to my smartphone so that’s the first app/search I do these days, before anything else. And I have whatsapp notifications completely silenced. The only thing that still creeps in as a bad habit is I try to go see if some youtube channel I like uploaded something fun, so still have to figure out how to behave better there.

Hehe these very switches were the ones I got slashed with a $90 fee for. It has more to do with the carrier. Prototypist defaulted to UPS and they have a high, flat import fee.

Got my CRP haul in from Milktooth yesterday! Finally got a set of regular ANSI alphas, I grabbed the Egyptian alphas, the red accent/alert kit, & OG Cherry winkeys. Was little surprised that the trays had tamper seals on them though. I guess they must have had an issue with people swapping out the CRP keys for cheaper PBT ones then returning them.

Nice little mail day I wasn’t expecting! On thurs. night I found someone on mechmarket selling a very lightly used KKB Mixed Retro Lights R1 with the spacebar kit & numpad kit for $120 so I jumped all over it as this is a set I’ve went back & forth on getting a few times. Then Keybaytech was finally able to ship me out my replacement Maiz stabs with the plastic wires finally (they weren’t slow to do it or anything, they just had to pause shipping to the US for about a week till they found a decent shipping solution with all the tariff craziness). They also let me keep the set with metal wires they sent on mistake! They definitely seem like a solid vendor from my experience & everything else I’ve heard about them!

Ah - I’d been eyeing a CRP set from Milktooth - I don’t have a CRP set yet! Are these extras from a round or are they not doing that anymore?

New silent tactile switch from Aliexpress. Uses a similar mechanism to the DK Red Velvet, but with a stronger bump.
Also got GMK Hazakura from Mekibo and dropped it on a newly h87 swapped and ISOified Evo80. Works much better than HSA Rouge, IMO.

You know I’m not quite sure myself. They don’t say on the site & there hasn’t been a rd. 7 yet AFAIK. We’d have to ask Milktooth themselves for a definitive answer. I will say they do fit in fine with the other various rd.4, 5, & 6 CRP caps I got.

Will do, I plan on bldg the HS PCB for my Spyder up with these so it might be a week or so. But I’ll definitely let you guys know what I think of them. I also gotta get a little write up on the Gateron Lanes now that I used them for a few days.
