Nope, just tray mount with metal inserts in the marble. The stone case absorbs vibrations in a very nice manner. Really toned down when compared to the aluminum Klippe case I had this build in previous
Surprising but great!
110 Cherry Northern Lights arrived and installed 36 of them in my board. I love these because they feel nearly the same as my MX2A silent reds which are among my favorite switches. Same feel and sound I love with a new color.
Technically not in the mail, but my wife and I ordered a new shed as our last cheap one collapsed during the first winter storm we got this year. Ordered a proper shed this time, and I regret that we didn’t just do that back in the first place (at least we got a refund for the one that collapsed).
Got some new Haimu (and one HMX) switches in from Aliexpress. Also my first deskmat because I apparently couldn’t help myself with a TNG LCARS theme (they also have TOS and the Stargazer from Picard).
- HMX Sunset Red Silent
- Haimu Deep Blue Silent Linear
- Haimu Pink Sea Salt Silent Tactile
- Haimu Sea Salt Mini Silent Linear (low-profile)
- Haimu Moonlight Magnetic Switch (dome-based HE switch, like Tecsee Raeds, but with silencing “legs”)
The HMX is a fairly standard silent linear from HMX (silicone on the stem rails), while the Blue and Pink Haimu switches use the same silence tech they’ve been using (plastic flanges on the stems). In fact, all the silencing with these Haimu switches is done with those plastic flanges. But the last two get…weird. Or at least not things I’ve seen before.
The Sea Salt Mini is a low-profile silent linear switch in a MX compatible footprint (so a bit like the Tecsee Mids and the more recent Wuque Studios Aster). It’s the first time I’ve seen plastic flanges used for silencing in a low-profile switch – every other low-profile silent switch I’ve seen used silicone o-rings on the rails for dampening. Also might be first low profile, MX-footprint compatible, silenced switch I’ve seen.
And then we go back to full size switches with the Moonlight Magnetic – it’s a silicone dome hall-effect switch, so a bit like the Tecsee Raeds. However, it has built-in silencing flanges on the slider itself, meaning no need for silencing o-rings. I’m seriously intrigued by these, but not enough to import them at >$1 each as I’m not really that in to HE boards.
Found initially over instagram ads, arrived pretty quick for shipping form the UK

As December Falls - Everything’s on Fire but I’m Fine
Hoping for Box Royals and Planck number 10. They say Monday but the Royals are at the building they get delivered from and the Planck just needs to get to my local post office. ![]()
Almost ready to head home from Tokyo, but squeezed in a quick trip to Yusha Kobo. Picked up their Primer 61 and 29 PCB kits. I might build at least one of them in wireless, though my guess is that the TRRS pads on each PCB mean I could tweak the firmware to make a split FRL full-size.
Also grabbed a box of SLK blanks. I have been wanting to play with my laser dye-sub technique again, and SLK seems like a fun way to do it. The Yen is fairly weak versus the dollar right now, so it was all-in about $110.
If someone who doesn’t know tech jargon/model names read this post, they would definitely think you are not speaking english LOL.
Most would think we are insane just by pictures. Like comment on one of my Reddit posts, “why not use a $5 dell keyboard. They do same thing AND have all the keys.”
Ahh the classic line lolol, it’s funny how (I assume) most of us thought the same thing at one point.
Sorry if my first post tagged you too. My phone wigged out, and I got myself all confused. I’m not very good at the internet sometimes.
I definitely did when I was younger and saw people with well built Gaming PCs. I would think why do all that work and spend that much, when you can buy a PlayStation and plug it in.
I had to look up the Primer61 and it is pretty cute - I am guessing that it is BLE and runs off of the batteries?
Yes, you’d use a BLE with pro micro footprint to make them wireless. IIRC, the kits I got have regular old pro micro clones and run wired, but I may source the wireless modules, especially with as much real estate as the 61 devotes to the battery area. I didn’t get the cases, and when I got their Primer79 TKL-like last year, I ended up adapting their cut files and making my own case on the laser and 3D-printer.
I am also intrigued by the TRRS pads on each PCB. I confirmed on their Discord that they are “Easter eggs” that don’t currently do anything, but the 29 is a combined nav- and num-pad, so it might be a pretty fun way to see if I can modify the firmware to turn them into a split.
Just had a new old stock Apple M0116 delivered….
I know, I feel like I’ve reached the point where now I’m just practicing pure, unabashed decadence.
In my defense, someone on the MechMarket Discord proposed a deal that was very hard to walk away from, at least compared to the insane eBay prices you see for NOS Alps these days.
OPEN IT! Sheesh!
