MT3 Darkness on my custom split with MX2A Silent Reds
This is a new build with glossy carbon fiber. My other main is matte carbon fiber with Skiidata MT3 and MX2A Oranges.
The more I use MT3, the more it grows on me. It’s a shame all the drama around the profile with Drop doing Matt3o dirty because I think this may be Matt3o’s best work (saying this as someone who also loves PBS, MTNU, and the OG WhiteFox board).
Anecdotally, I find it super easy to hit those keys on the splayed staggered board here. I’ve used an ergodox that has a less significant stagger and no splay and that really hurt my hands with the stretch required.
The splay and stagger on this makes things feel about as reachable as the keywells in the kinesis advantage that I used before these.
I picked this Corne up from a Discord associate who did a beautiful job SMD soldering and case printing. They also included P3D thick PP plates - really unique.
Using Keygeek Cheesecakes and a mix of beige alphas from OTC 9009, CK NicePBT warm white blanks, and Keyreative Klein blue “bars”. The caps were an initial whim but actually really work with the case, wires, and frosted covers, I think.
The Cheesecakes are a little too light for me; I think 50gf total is my lightest truly comfortable weight. Very fine switches, though.
I really like the way that print came out, and the frosted MCU covers are a nice touch!
It was a very different layout, but I found I didn’t like the feel of Cherry at all on a flat keyboard and needed at least a little 3-degree incline to make the profile feel normal. How do you find Cherry on the Corne?
I’ve heard this, but I’m fine with it, maybe since it doesn’t use the tallest keys? I didn’t think I’d be as fine with a flat board. I have cone feet on my MechWild boards.
I think this is the final form for my Tess65 - I swapped-on some MM Studio classic beige caps (that came with my Class80), and I actually love the look. Aesthetically, somewhere between original beige-era and a compact Topre of some variety.
They’re generally excellent caps, too; I’m quite pleased with this little keeb and think I’ll be using it a lot in this configuration.
