What is the best way to connect the USB shield?

I have been googling on how to use\connect the USB shield and became more confused after reading the info I found.

I found so many contradictory supporting recommendations as mentioned in this post: USB device cable shield connection - grounding it or not?

And an another source claims that it should not be grounded directly: How to connect USB Connector shield?

Can someone please give me some advice on this topic?

If you have a chassis ground it should connect to that, if you don’t you should probably just connect it to gnd directly I think most people do that.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen it not in with the ground pour on a keyboard PCB. For the vast majority of our use cases, it won’t really matter since we’re not dealing with super complex/delicate workings.
