Sorry to bother again, as a kid I was told that PCBs specially in computer eletronics have a protective coating so that water and mildly acidic fluids don’t damage the eletrical flow by “bridging” two or more seperated copper lines.
Since I’ve never needed to dig in this topic I’ve accepted, stored, locked and almost forgotten his fact.
Don’t know much about chemistry nor electronics to tell if this Which protective chemical coating is applied on the PCB? is legit. But the page points out several mechanical and chemical PCB cleaning methods, including how to remove the prodective coating itself. But the part about removing silicon gelnwas interesting Which protective chemical coating is applied on the PCB? since partly I’m working on a budget board that hat some silicone or soft glued components connecting the plate and pcb as the result of the manufacturing process.
I’ll try this out.
