I’m going for a pine look on my Wooting 80HE and was wondering if anyone knows where to get a nice wooden 80% layout case. The key caps will have a mix of dark greens, wood, and black and then the case will compliment that. Let me know if you know any good places.
In terms of easily available wooden 80% replacement cases, that is definitely going to be a hard find and more likely something you are going to have to get custom made. But just so you are aware even if there were available cases, the Wooting80HE’s “TKL” layout is different than what you would normally see for a TKL (the nav cluster is squished on the Wooting).
The only available case replacements for the Wooting80HE that I know of are KBDFan’s offerings, Holy80 Case – KBDfans® Mechanical Keyboards Store & K KBDfans GT-80 Case – KBDfans® Mechanical Keyboards Store. Both of which are aluminum cases ofc but they’re not bad of a choice to go with it.
Ooh, yeah, no CNC’d tray-mount cases for that one, and in just a brief glance it appears much harder in general to find wooden cases for layouts that require any blocking, which makes sense. A tray mount, despite my tediously-documented opposition to doing so on solid wood of unknown provenance, can be batched out on CNC, sanded and poly’d, and bob’s yer uncle. If it turns into a taco, (maybe) send the customer a new one.
Anything else requires more steps to look good, and more steps means more money. The Holy80 + a nice pine, maple, or ash wrist rest might do well continuing an organic theme from the keycaps.
I have a decent budget. Definitely investing for the long term for aesthetics
Ah thank you, yeah options seem limited but make sense since this is a newer board
