Glorious GMMK Pro

GMMK PRO ISO boards are coming. July is the estimate.
The photos are just placeholders because the ISO version is not out yet.
Several sites allow ISO preorders.

Ah, I see - preorders makes total sense.

Caseking has pictures of the ISO model.

The man, the myth, the legend.

I just got mine in yesterday (still boxed). I guess I’ll be uber late to the review party :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh boy! A Chyrchrchrz fractal unboxing! Dis gonna be gud!

Edit: Alright, unboxings bore me. Even the ones with burps and swearing in them, it appears. Let’s wait for the review then.

The accessories are available in the PCGR store now. Nothing too exiting.

I’ve got one in black and I opted to upgrade to the brass plate, more for the visual than anything else. I was impressed with how heavy the keyboard itself was. For whatever reason I didn’t expect that. It feels very sturdy overall.

I just need to determine how devoted to this I’m going to be and pick some switches. I’ve already got some keycaps though. Then I suppose I also need to take it all apart so I can install the brass plate too.

Glorious announced that future batches might use a different μC because they have difficulties sourcing the one they designed for.

Let’s see if they replace the STM32F303 with an ATmega knockoff.

It’s cool, I can’t even flash the STM MCU with QMK, but apparently it’s okay to push that kind of support off to their customers. (he said mighty unhappily).

Oh. What’s the problem? Can’t get into flash mode, write abort, checksum fail?

No, I can get it into the bootloader mode no problem, but then QMK Toolbox says it can’t open the MCU. I’ve tried it using different USB ports. Set to Auto-flash, manually flash.

I don’t think it’s a problem with my approach only because I can flash all my other keyboards using QMK.

However, I’ve also learned that if you flash the keyboard with your custom configuration, you lose all RGB lighting. So that’s also kind of a lousy deal.

Ouch. Someone at Glorious should make available a template to start from that includes the default lighting.

Yeah, I get a strong whiff of “Marketing Department” off this one.

Now that they can’t get the STM microcontroller in sufficient volume and the one they’re changing to is even less compatible with QMK I can’t imagine they’re going to work too hard to fix this.

So, I’ll use it a for my work keyboard because it’s generally decent. I’m just disappointed in their over promised, under delivered approach.

Oh, and FWIW, I find their stabs to be fine. I added some additional lube to the sides and I don’t even notice them.

/u/Gigahawk took the time to document their soft-fuckups over here in /r/mk.

Yeah pretty disappointed in reading that. I don’t think GMMK’s main audience will really care. It definitely gives more evidence to the theory that they just cherry-picked buzzwords from the community for goodwill.

Personally, I would give up RGB for QMK.

One might say that substantiates the first impression of dishonest marketing. There is a Swabian expression “Man soll nicht höher furzen, als der Arsch hängt.” which describes it pretty spot on. That’s all I have for cultural exchange today, bye.

You shouldn’t fart higher than your ass hangs.

Translation checks out.
