Interesting Finds & Heads-Ups

I’ve heard of these before, they’re a really neat bit of kit. Seems like folks back then were more forward thinking that we sometimes give them credit for.

Indeed. It’s a fantastically elegant solution to a very complex problem. Not without it’s quirks—like everything else, ever—but vastly superior to any alternatives.

I need Geon to proceed with F2-60.

Even though i really didn’t want to give them any more of my money…again, but i got one of those surprise switch packs again. thanks for sharing.
Selection is pretty lackluster this time, at least imo, but hoping for EMTv2, BBN linears or 8008 at least.

Based on the font those seem to be Melgeek MCR keycaps. (edit: I know this isn’t the interesting part, just an observation).

Also just got an email about these:

8BitDo is launching NES and Famicon-themed mechs. Seems like Kailh Box Whites for the boards and Gateron greens for the detachable “Super Buttons.” Quality a very big to-be-determined here.

Kinda neat. But the font on those caps sure could use some work

Yah, they make good controllers, but at a quick perusal their keyboards could use some work. More power to them, though. Interestingly…doesn’t it use two kinds of clickies?!

I’m sad/angry that you can’t use the power buttons on your own.

You know, Ryan makes a great point;

The idea of entrusting a $500+ keyboard to a $20 laser-cut acrylic stand seems dubious and disproportionate, so I wanted to make something better.

Yes, I do feel like it is a stand that feels appropriate for an expensive and heavy keyboard. Which keyboard gets entrusted to the fancy stand though? There are too many to choose from! I don’t currently own any stands. I don’t have room to display things on a stand like this.

Maybe it can be a place where I place my 2nd most recent build. I kinda like that idea. My current build would be on my desk, but my previous build could be on the stand.

Sounds like one needs to buy more than one stand!

That multi discount does seem enticing. But I feel like owning 1 is a thing or owning enough for most of my keyboards is a thing. And the second thing there is not possible.

Dorp did a little write-up on doing an all-over / reverse dye sub MT3 set:

I feel this comment because I have one of those $20 amazon acrylic stands on a few of my desks. In their defense I will say that they are pretty functional. When I’m typing normally I use them to hold an iPad as a secondary screen and my desk is fairly narrow so when I need to work with paper everything moves up a tier and the keyboard and wrist rest live on their for the duration.
