Based on my experience with the 65%, I agree!
LOL. Loved the “Honeymoon period” bit. So true.
I think i like it! Seems like a good progression in design.
Now… make walnut accent. PLEASE
Yes this is an instant order for me. I said I was done with 60% after I ordered the Ladybird from Honey, but the Mode will likely ship first anyway
These actually look kind of neat.
Frankly they seem like a combination of NK_ Creams+ and NK_ Cream Clickies; that is, combining a modular stem-pole with a thin membrane that it bottoms-out on (like the snapple-cap rests on in the Clickie).
If they can get the modular poles to stay in place I love it.
But dang if “Panda” isn’t worn-out as a switch name at this point…
I still haven’t soldered in any cream+ because I know the inserts are gonna come out. lol
Good point about the name. Looks like they’re getting feedback and considering changing the name. There’s probably a thousand better names they could use. I think something like “Feng Shui” or “Dark + Light” would be fitting. Hey… maybe they could be “Skunk” switches and they could add some natural odor. Nah, that idea is a real “stinker”. I’ll just show myself out.
Also, it’s promising that they have people testing the switch who look like genuine keyboard enthusiasts. That’s always a plus. Hopefully they listen to feedback.
The big thing I see is a very customizable switch with a full 4mm travel. That’s actually unique at this point. I type this on a long pole linear, but hey… lots of people want 4mm travel still.
I do like that the travel is 4mm with the modular poles installed; that means they can make longer optional ones for folks who prefer it without alienating folks who don’t.
The more I look at it, the more I wonder if those inserts stay in the bottom housing and are themselves the “drum” surfaces; modular tubes rather than modular poles.
Interesting discussion over at Deskthority about why we can’t have a buckling spring switch in an MX housing.

Liked Retro High-light but didn’t want to brave the UV printing? This one’s for you - tall, spherical, shiny, colors from a time before synthetic dyes - and of course - blank
Nice. I usually prefer blank to printed. For this set, the offset legends and quirky accents make the printed set very unique. I’ll have to think about which I would prefer. I’m pretty sure that today’s good UV printing would last decades. Maybe keep my printed set and if they do start to fade, polish the legends off for blanks.
MM Studio is making an EC HHKB board. And they also just announced a PC version:
lol. Well, they are in China, right? . Surely that won’t be there on the Group Buy units.
I should mention, the board has options for both EC and MX
Plastic EC HHKB sounds kinda familiar
NovelKeys still has a few first-round NK87s hanging around taking up space. Is it an exciting keyboard in today’s landscape? Not really. Is it a lot of keyboard for fifty bucks? Very much.
Ya get:
- Barebones F13 TKL
- Standard with color matched polycarb plate
- Tons of silicone dampening, this thing is heavy
- Semi hardshell carrying case & coiled cable
- Decent keycap & switch puller
Only color left is “Blumen” - the translucent blue-green shown in the image there. Worth noting that this particular color is also UV reactive / glow-in-the-dark - so if you have a blacklight, this could have an extra layer of fun involved.
Why so cheap?
The caveat is that the PCB isn’t warrantied and it’s probably a good idea to change out the stabs or at least add washers to the existing ones before turning it on. The factory stabs were installed without washers and have a remote chance of bridging traces if used without them, hence the maga discount.
FWIW I have two of these; one I got when they first went on sale - I used it with the original stabs without issue, and replaced the stabs on the second one before using it. Both still working fine. Besides, you’ll want to replace the stabs on these anyway - just pretend they aren’t there to begin with
