Yeah, I’ve been tempted by Niz kits too, but agree about just sticking to authentic Topre. I aint even a huge of that so something less & id probably never use it.
Edit: Still mulling over getting a Class 80 though!
the big suck on my Corsa is the stabilizers. I think using the Deskey topre options are great, though. I’ve used them on my Norbaforce. I don’t know what the Class 80 EC kit uses.
I’m pretty sure it said all NIZ parts when I was looking at it last night, could be wrong though. That’s a shame about the Corsa EC kit, rattly or sluggish stabs ruin a board for me. Does it at least give a decent cup rubber experience other than the stabs?
The travel feels too short, and I used the thinnest dampening rings. And yes, the stabilizers are sluggish if you don’t PERFECTLY seat the cap. I think I can make it a lot better. I swapped out the included stabilizers with TX-AP plate mount and it was MUCH better. I think if I do that on all the stabilizers and remove the dampening rings altogether it will feel nicer. Just haven’t gotten around to it.
Nice, good to hear you already got a solid plan for fixing it. If you can find any of the original Keyclack silencing rings they sold alongside the BKE redux domes you can probably get away with using them for silencing. They were really thin & didn’t hugely dampen the noise, but they were the only silencing ring I found to use with my non silenced 660C that didn’t affect the travel much & still made some silencing. I just sold off all my BKE domes & leftover rings a few months ago, but I might still have some stashed. I’ll check & let you know.
Just keep in mind; they have two shipping locations, and they differentiate with either a light or dark background. You can combine in an order, but will get two separate shipping charges if you do.
Oh my goodness. Yeah. Dammit, I need one of those.
Well, not need.
Want.
I mean, this isn’t too far off from reality, they are able to make clear-ish PCBs. I can’t imagine they could sell those as kits though as I’ve heard they’re a bit brittle as they’ve got none of the fiber reinforcement that an FR4 PCB has.
I own Noire and the one thing about it is that I honestly can’t tell it apart from WoB unless they are side by side. Noire was supposed to be pure cream and black, and it is… but the cream, in contrast to the black, straight up looks white.
This might be a better take. I know that L9 is more beige than cream, but in contrast to the black, I might actually like it better than Noire
There’s Maestro too, which was supposed to be creamy but all the pics I’ve seen of it look pretty white. Though Id bet it holds up side-by-side like Noire.
Fwiw, I do love the way these boards look but I’ve never been able to fully commit to a single theme the lifetime of a board which these sorta seem to force you into (perhaps not, perhaps I just lack the creativity)
edit: Looking them over I think you could make a really nice Space Cadet board from the gray/silver and blue combination
Yes! I actually love the approach, but similarly struggle to commit to such an overt theme. Were price not a consideration, I’d probably grab at least two of these >.>
