Interesting Finds & Heads-Ups

Screenshots for closer look. Wild.

Agreed, although I started to overthink them a bit. I’m wondering if the friction between the metal & plastic will be any better or even worse than the usual plastic on plastic? I guess that would come down to finding the best materials for the job though, just like regular switches. Either way I am glad they’re trying this out & will be grabbing some for sure if they get made!

These WS Jades look pretty interesting, too. It looks like these have something in common with Creams +, but with metal inserts in both the stem pole and tube base. (Those two tiny parts below the bottom housing in this exploded image; the bottom one is a plug for the tube, and the top one is an insert for the stem - I’d imagine these aren’t intended for swapping around since they don’t mention it but who knows)

Ha, almost thought that light diffuser was a click leaf after seeing “distinct click sound” on one of those images, but it looks like those two tiny metal parts are what accomplish that.

Edit:

neat

I was checking this out last night - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3K4cB9Xa4Q&t=472s&pp=ygUFbmVvNzA%3D

Neo70 is doing some pretty interesting stuff that I was not aware of at first. I am a little bummed the guy didn’t do a sound test of the NAV cluster section. That was the bit I was most interested in.

Thanks for the video. WS Jades bottom out sounds very clean with little or no up-stroke sound. Neat.

you wot?

Said to the tune of, “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”;
If you’re going to use a metal ball bearing, you’re going to need a metal race…

Wuque Jade - - A new kind of 'que

I Had a McRib Sandwich For Dinner Tonight !

Happy thanksgiving!

Ha - I think Wuque gets the award for least intuitive name in all of keebdom - at least for us folks limited to the Latin alphabet. Looks like “woo cue” or even “wook” - but no, it’s “woo chey” (or woo chye, depending on how you interpret the phonetics) - a Chinese word meaning “whole”.

Ha happy Thanksgiving! My sis and I had a traditional dinner planned, but the Samsung oven died at precisely the right time so it was burritos and popcorn tonight :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s to having plenty of munchies and keebs

They all turned out pretty nice, but the purple is pretty subtle. Nothing as vibrant as the atomic purple on the Bauer Lite. I own the clear. It’s a nice board. But of course, that price is cray

For those who might be interested. Came across this on FB market. Probably a bit too expensive but still pretty cool.

That green is muy bueno.

The store page is really good!

They’ve done an extensive but approachable, unpretentious, and cool job of this kind of presentation where many have failed.

I like the redesign! I’m surprised it’s a preorder. I guess they carry too many in-stock boards as it is with their brutal v1 and v2 line.

Man this came out of left field. Looks so good. Especially that purple polycarb. I don’t even use my r2 Sat75, but I may have to grab this :sob: That starting price is insane too

@hellla and @pixelpusher Yah, it looks good! I asked, and Ana confirmed it’s going to be pre-order with extras until they’re gone, not ongoing in-stock like the Brutal boards or Bakeneko, “unless there is unprecedented demand.”

I initially assumed it was another in-stock, but was wrong.

This is the second year I’m hosting the MK Advent Calendar on kbd.news. Write-ups from the pen of revered community members are revealed one by one each day in the run-up to Christmas. The first article is Felix Kühling’s excellent piece on hexagonal layouts and his stunning Mantis keyboard: Mantis: An Argument for Hexagonal Keys in Ergonomic Keyboards.

It seems at least two contributors will fail to deliver, so if you are interested, have a good idea, and can put together a longer format write-up in 2-3 weeks, feel free to contact me.
