Interesting Finds & Heads-Ups

!!!

Also, @schizobovine re: Granite it seems they tried to match but thenalso added some and took some artistic license? In any event, the GH thread has the RAL codes if interested.

I was in on the original superweld gb which got cancelled, after rejoining their discord from the original IC on GH looks like it is still dudeship designs doing it who revived the project and is planning on doing a run in sept. Very excited about this.

(I’m sure there’s still people hoping their [CTRL]ALT Hyperfuse set will be delivered … any day now)

Some nice deals! Interestingly they have had those “select premium” keyboards on sale for a while now. Meaning they have been featured in sales for like… last two years maybe. 18 months?

So CK must have bought quite a few of these as extras or people just don’t want to even pay the sale prices.

I will give the group-buy model credit for inherently finding some point on the supply and demand curves where they’re aligned.

MTNU 800 is in group buy again! This set runs until 8/8/2025, so I’ve got to do the quickest rally with my wallet and the realest heart-to-heart with my SO ever. Not sure what, if any, the diffs between this and the first rev.

Looks like Prime Keyboards is shutting down and is selling off inventory at 25% off for most items.

Man, another classic vendor recedes into keeb hostory.

Alpacas were the hotness for a minute, weren’t they… did they kick off the animal naming trend or just popularize it?

I can totally recommend the stem holders they have. They’re actually lead holders - drafting pencils basically - but good luck finding those sold under their original purpose for less than $4. That’s a solid price whatever you use it for - they just happen to be perfect for holding switch stems.

I saw one of these stem holders somewhere else for more money, so I was “smart” and bought a lead holder for $12 on Amazon a few years back. It is identical to the $4 Prime Keyboards stem holder. :upside_down_face:

Another great vendor bites the dust, I can’t blame @holtenc though. Seems like he’s been focusing less & less on his store for quite awhile now. Guess he got other things taking precedent & that is totally understandable. Also very cool of him having this fire sale, he could’ve easily just put a small discount on stuff & called it day. Most of the prices after the fire sale discount are crazy low! Definitely need to grab myself a Meridian carrying case & set of DSS Honeywell before they sell out!

@ListlessLlama I use one of those.

In other news, Altair/Altair-X round 2 confirmed!!

Has to be the shortest interval to r2 ever. I can confirm, it’s a great keyboard.

I’m so conflicted on the Altair. It’s beautifully made, but if I’m honest with myself, I’m just never going to commit to any sort of non-standard (65%-ish) layout. I like swapping out boards pretty frequently and the split/ortho boards are just too jarring to visit for a few days.

I have a Keebio Iris, which has a similar layout, and I’ve used it maybe four times in over two years. Nothing wrong with the board at all, just not a layout I can enjoy for short visits. :disappointed:

Are you suuuuree? :upside_down_face:

I got used to it on the X! Maybe it’s that the 40s version is more different, and I’m being serious.

Wait a second; when did the Iris come back in stock? Hmmm…

Agreed, but I can certainly appreciate that the ortho/ergo folks deserve to have fancy anodized aluminum keebs too. Between this and the QK Alice Duo, it’s a good time to be into armrest-mountable keyboards.

Hah I am very much not sure, which makes this decision so much more challenging!

The Iris in the cheaper variations is a great budget option, but I think the Altair/X are better premium choices.

I’m in complete agreement! It’s nice to see non-standard form factors get some love.

I draw the line at furniture-mounted peripherals.

Not sayin’ it’s a good idea, just an accurate description of the category.
