Looks like Keychron is getting into ZMK and tool-less cases. I wonder if their “Launcher” web front end will contribute back to ZMK Studio.
The battery life claims with ZMK are fantastic; I’m curious if those hold up under real world conditions? I have an old Logitech M705 mouse that runs on two AA batteries and they last for about 18 months under heavy use. It’s so nice to have something wireless that doesn’t need to be frequently recharged. I will say though that about every 18 months or so, my mouse starts acting weird and my first thought is always “well, shit. I’m going to have to buy a new mouse.” ![]()
It’s looking increasingly likely that the Smurve80 is not shipping in Q2 as expected, though NovelKeys still shows that estimated timeline. I find it implausible that sampling, manufacturing, and shipping will all take place before the end of June:
ProtoTypist has updated their Smurve80 expected customer ship date to Q3:
Did you guys see the new options for the Classic-TKL coming? Love it! I assume there will be non-assembled/packaged versions as well. I don’t own a set of GMK Classic Beige, so I may order one of these when they get in stock. Heck of a deal
I already have 4 of these, and I might have to pick up one of each new color ![]()
Ooooh these colors are so good. Reminds me of the colors MODE put out for the refreshed Encore. Not sure if I really like the yellow accents, but I can’t say that it doesn’t work with the color schemes. Pretty nice
The yellow accents are listed as a unique Underscore edition feature, so maybe these colors will come in a standard version as well without the yellow. Might need @mgsickler to clear that up.
New key machine teaser sure looks like it’s a TKL-Classic of some sort. 6 days to release
EDIT----
Looks like it’s going to be DCS Panels.
This would be the first DCS set
DCS seems to be popular at the moment, so I thought others might be interested. DCS Pink Alert extras at SPKeyboards
The colorway is not my jam, but I do love DCS
That reminds me that I have been meaning to revisit my very first modern mech, a 2014-ish 70% Pok3r-like called the “Drevo Calibur.” It was daily driver until I started sharing an office with my wife (that was two houses ago… we’ve both come to our senses about that) and replaced it with a 100% of similar provenance rocking clone blacks and rubber o-rings.
There is a lot wrong with a no-name board that was in the first generation of post-patent experimentation, but I have fond memories of it, and 70% is a layout that can manage without QMK as long as the F keys are mapped sensibly. It could be a good candidate for desoldering switches, DCS Unicorn Barf, and a 3D-printed replacement case. Anybody want some gray laser-marked PBT OEM from that timeframe? North facing Caps lock indicator helpfully drilled out and diffused with hot glue! ![]()
