Known stem breakers in the wild

Great news! Thanks for clearing that up for me, pun intended.

Just clears & purples are stem breakers. Like @Arrinura said they have never updated the mold shape for the clears (purples use the same molds) for whatever reason. Which is weird since I know they’ve had to have to mold made a few times between when they started making clears & now. No way a mold lasted that long even with retooling it. IIRC they’re made with those extra little nubbins on the stem to make sure they grip keycaps extra good since clears were originally made for a customer who used their KBs in some type of industrial work. Which may have been fine for OG Cherry caps (PBT dyesub I’d imagine as GMK is based of off Cherry’s ABS doubleshot molds), but doesn’t fly nowadays. Although honestly if you got a stem trimmer you best bet is to do like I do & try it on any new switches you get. After just a couple you’ll know if you need to do the whole batch or not.

Thanks for the background info! Always interesting to learn how things in the hobby originated.

Do you know of any secret stashes of Geon trimmers in the US? Divinikey seems to almost always be sold out. And I’m guessing if I order it direct from Geon’s site I’m going to get hit with freedom tariffs and patriot customs fees.

Bit late, but Divinikey has 5 right now. If you still need one.
