My customized ThinkCaps
Very nice, still waiting for the ThinkCaps GB
I was initially trying to solder more white leds into this keyboard, but found out, to my dismay, that TTC led diffusers are just too good at their job, or that KAT keycaps are just thinner than they look.
The watch is there because I was trying to figure out how intense the green of the mods were in a photo as a benchmark for my ideal green. If any keycap set gets this kind of green down (gradient pls)…I will fall to my knees and weep.
oh thats why the watch is there
I have a Rolex that I’ve worn maybe twice since I inherited it? It just sits in a safe. My son will inherit it in 12 years lol.
Oh hey, another green affectionado!
My best guess for matching that shade would probably be British Racing Green, there’s an in-progress GMK GB I’m waiting for personally but cannonkeys also has an in-stock pbt version of it which looks pretty nice. If that’s too dark you could also try GMK Camping (R3 GB is running now). There’s also GMK Hunt running now, though I’m not sure how the colors will turn out since the renders and the chosen RAL color don’t seem to match (RAL 6009, which looks closer to that watch than the renders suggest imo)
One of these days, I really do want to do a keeb in this color, specifically as a reference to the car I think of every time I hear or read the name of the color:
KAR-120C - or, the Lotus-designed Caterham 7 that Patrick McGoohan’s character drives in the original BBC miniseries, The Prisoner.
I would be in for ePBT #6
Thanks for the response! I was hoping to get a response like this.
British Racing Green is definitely close (its the closest any set has ever gotten). I’ve had my eye on it for awhile now, and I’m pretty sure I’m snagging off the aftermarket when that does happen. I have a good reference for the color in the form of a Private White VC British Racing Green Harrington jacket, and am hoping the keyset is super close to the color of that jacket.
I “had” both GMK camping R1 and SA camping (I actually prefer SA), but I’ve since given those away. I’ll take your word for GMK hunt’s colors so I plan on waiting it out until actual photos appear before I snag extras or just buy aftermarket (whenever that is).
SA jadeite is also really nice (but not quite), I’m just waiting for one pop up in my local aftermarket. Novelkeys only has the alphas and novelties as extras.
I’ve recently acquired SA skyriter from the aftermarket, and I’m also hoping it’s super close like the irl photos suggest.
My ideal would be a gradient green in the same vein as ePBT Basin.
Hahaha, I assure you. It’s a genuine plea to find a green similar to it.
I just find it more effective to provide the reference color because it’s just so difficult to describe the green. I’d end up writing multiple paragraphs going nowhere.
Love this!
A thousand words is one picture!
Norbauer power.
Thanks for all of the creative offerings, @norbauer. I’ve never actually placed them all side by side. Probably would look better with some caps swapped out. Might do that later. Might just drink a beer since I threw out my back getting keycap bins out. Sucks to get old.
Here’s to remembering the past and looking forward to cool things to come in 2022.
My first reaction was, “wow, that’s a lot of Norbauer cases!”
then I did a quick hash total and realized I have the exact same number, lol.
Even Galaxy Class!! Nice collection
flexing not one, but TWO veracity steel finishes. Nice
The only thing I’ve passed on is the new Datapad case. I might use a numpad twice a year, so there’s no way I can justify it
Also not pictured here is the Keybrief TKL bag. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates well made things. The carry bag is seriously worth the price. Was lucky to pick one up on sale last year.
Still awaiting shipment of Palm Desert 1968, matching deskpad, and a polycarb heavy grail.
I mean, Heavy-9 is really a data pad with some extra alpha keys, right?
It’s cool that there’s a lot of history in one picture. Can’t wait to see the full family picture when the new kids have joined. I’ll take a commemorative picture when I have all my boards built too
damn that’s a lot of Norbatouches and Heavy-6s! guess I’ll need to take stock of my Norbauers too haha
