Post Your Keyboards!

I’ve posted this diy one before, and it certainly has certain fit and finish issues, but I’ve been using it as my daily driver, and it’s been trouble free and pleasant to use. The one good thing that laptops have done, keyboarding wise, is normalize thin, flat boards.

I am loving that design language.

Getting some real retro-future vibes; looks like it could be right at home anywhere between the Atomic Age and that version of the 70s that only seemed to exist on-screen.

Some rare pearls of 70’s design have survived until this day and age. You can find them here: https://www.reddit.com/r/70sdesign/

As you can tell, I don’t have enough Kinesis Advantage 2’s yet… That’s why I have another one on order from UpgradeKeyboards.

  • The white one in the back is my daily driver, I got it second hand, but it is a signature series with lubed gat inks, and all sorts of silencing done + PBT blanks. It’s quite good. Good enough that if you told me this is the only keyboard I could use for the rest of my life, I’d be cool with it.

  • The silver one is stock with Cherry browns and blank PBT caps. Will probably change those switches out some day when I feel like desoldering again.

  • The white one up front is the LF edition that is normally black, but I took some matte white Krylon to it and I do quite like it. Stock silent reds and PBT blanks.

All of these + the one I have on order will be eventually Stabelberg modded.

Currently using this.
I have a dongle to connect it to the purple PS/2 port in the PC. One day, when motherboard manufacturer stopped making PS/2 ports (or have they already?), I probably need to buy a converter to USB. I wonder if it will work since there’s dongle upon dongle.

It’s been a while since I messed with mine.

But if I’m remembering right, that has a DIN plug, right? I think the DIN to ps2 works fine, but if you plug that into one of those ps2 to usb adapters, this particular board has issues. It will miss keystrokes.

The good news is that it does work with a Soarer’s converter.

I think that you can still find them on eBay or even Amazon

Yes. You are right. I am currently using a DIN to PS2.
I am thinking of another PS2 to USB dongle in the events where I want to plug it into a Mac or a future PC that do not have PS2 port. If what you are saying is that it will have miss keystroke, that’s not good then. I wonder if there is a DIN to USB? I will search ebay. Thanks for the insights.

Yes the Soarers converter is DIN to USB and it works on this board as well as some older boards.

I bought mine from Orihalcon back in the day but it looks just like this. I bet it would work

That board is breathtaking in the right light. Great photo. Never thought of Mudbeam but it is looking great on it.

:dolphin: Finally got it all built up tonight! Went with new L=F new Nixies & TX AP screw in stabs. Loving the way it looks with Sol Dark! Also gave Geon’s force break pads a try with this too. They seem to have worked pretty well, although this is not a pingy board whatsoever. I more used to see if it can make the sandwich mount a slight bit softer.
Edit: Also used a Hiney H87C PCB (south facing spacebar) with this cause even though it tested fine I just do not trust the Fave V2 PCB it came with.

Rule60v2.1 HHKB. I just got it and built it today and i fell in love with it, for the most part. First CnC’d Acrylic board and it’s very nice, and quite heavy too with that optional internal steel weight.
Built it with Gateron Smoothie/Milkshake switches, NK plate mount stabs with Equalz gold wires, Y&R6095 PCB, PC plate (still hoping for someone to make plate files for it) and the newest Aifei WoB. I’ve only used the plate foam so it’s easier to insert switches and the bottom case foam so the PCB can’t hit the bottom case due to flex. both the PCB and the plate have a lot of those, so i wanted to make sure.

Look at that subtle off-white coloring…

Which keycaps are those?

Thanks! Just Drop DCX BoW. The accents started because I didn’t want to see the slightly off Shift legend kerning anymore  Those are mint abs blanks from Keyreative. They were extremely inexpensive so wth.
