Put some caps on my Filco. DCS red alert and polycarbonate accents

Picking up these older items has helped to rekindle my interest in messing around with my keyboards. So that’s a big plus.

I love , I share!
This is my old buddy,GLITTER65 R2. it’s with an aluminum case and a chiclet appearance. My favorite thing about it is that it weighs 3KG, so it doesn’t just move around when I’m excited about playing a game!

I do like the shape of cases like that.

No it doesn’t work because the space between the number and function row is non-standard spacing. :expressionless:

Behold, Keymacs A624N-101 on NOS Blue Alps—the Lamborghini Miura of keyboards:

Technically, this is not my keyboard anymore. I made it and will ship it soon to its future owner, but I could not resist to post it here.

Now THAT is beyond Epic. (I keep having to use this sentence because so many things I see on here are awesome)

Oh my lord. I have not been keep up with your Keymacs offerings. This build and keycap colorway are absolutely amazing. Nice work.

Filcos sort of share compatibility with a handful of other prebuilts but it’s all random stuff like old CoolerMasters, Turtle Beaches, and KBParadises - and even then you usually have to cut, drill, or file something to make it fit.

It’s beautiful! Are those keycaps you produced yourself? I’d be highly interested in SA Space Cadet in ALPS mount! Awesome job man!

will have to look at TBs and KBPs one of these days! good rabbit hole

IIRC the Turtle Beach Impact 500 and the KBParadise V80 are both TKLs that have the same spacing as the Filco MJ2.

Here is an old build log of mine showing the process of installing a Filco shell on a KBP V80.

If you don’t mind, how long does it take to fabricate a full set of the polyurethane caps?

They, like the rest of these boards, come out brilliantly by the way. I can surely appreciate that they’re worth it to the right buyers.

Yep, all keycaps made by myself. It is my own profile, it is like a slightly rounder, higher, and bulkier version of DSS (it has been inspired by the new-style Symbolics keyboard whose keycaps are kind of a mystery, there does not seem to be much information on its manufacturer).

It depends on the complexity of the legends. But on average, a single double-shot key is about an hour of work, triple shot perhaps 1.5–2 hours.

It almost always looks good on silver-gray.

KBD75 in that colour was basically meant for EPBT 9009.

WS has the guts to call that switch a “Brown.” It’s probably more tactile than an AKKO Blue.

That is genuinely impressive man, those caps look every bit as good as anything SP does! Also hearing the profile isn’t actual SA intrigues me more as I love how SA looks but am not the biggest fan of it’s feel. Something like DSS is definitely more my speed. I’m sure they’re expensive since the process takes so long, but if you ever decided to sell the caps by themselves I’d be super interested in grabbing a set for my ALPS boards!
