Post Your Keyboards!

Finally got a family photo!

Took a break from beating my head against the wall trying to teach myself ZMK (with Charlieplexing, no less) to see if I can get my Yushakobo boards working wireless with the cheap Nice!Nano clones I got off Amazon.

So instead, I switched out the cheap WOB Cherry on my modded Epomaker with SA Laser Micons. I haven’t decided if the case and caps contrast nicely or simply clash, but it does feel better to type on now. I reserve the right to change my mind at literally any moment, but I’ve just about decided that Cherry is my least-favorite profile with any popularity at all. The keytops feel too narrow and the edges feel too sharp. They punish extremely poor typing technique like mine, LOL.

He lives!!! While I haven’t posted in FOREVER, it doesn’t mean that I haven’t had some projects I have been working on…

My current show-stopper is finally getting Kohaku’s brass weight back from BenzJr. It’s been gone for over a year, but I think it was well worth the weight wait

I also forgot I had hopped on the DK1-TKL train when it ran and it was a happy surprise when it showed up at my door. Apparently the plate is meant for clip in stabs, and they shipped with PCB stabs and didn’t bother updating the plate or foam to reflect the rotated Enter key stab either. Had to hand file all the stab holes on the alu plate and add notches for the Enter stab wires. Still, it’s super solid, sounds great, and is my first metal TKL. Been using it and I actually kind of love it. Not fully converted because I miss my function keys but this sounds/feels so nice..

Yeah, I like it, though as I understand the provenance, mine is from some sort of pre-production run and I had to manually edit the json to make it work in VIA, though I think the plate stabs were already there. I have KAM in it, and it’s really pretty and way closer to my preferred ergonomics, low height and shallow angle, than most customs and semi-customs I’ve seen. It’s also such a dense brick that it blunts the sonic impact of the Box Navies I put in it.

lmao

I’ve been using it without a wrist rest because it’s just low enough I can float my wrists without ache.

Taken from the Unikeys discord. They definitely messed up on sending PCB mount screw in stabs with the board though. I tuned into Alex’s stream for a second and someone commented “make suggestions to GDK but they won’t listen to you anyway” lol.

I still love the board. I noticed my Backspace is a tiny bit sticky and it’s killing me. I’d have to disassemble for the 3rd time to file the plate down some more :sob:

Completely new to VIA keyboards. Just got a new VIA keyboard RK R65. The typing is quite smooth. Plan to switch to shine-through keycaps

Nicely paired keycaps and cases :+1:

Think this is the final form for my new F1-8x V2 Mint/Mint. GMK Black Snail L9 Alpha/Mods + L9 Hangul (light shellac coated). HMX Retro J. TypePlus Stabs + Knight V4 stabs for spacebar.

Build notes: TypePlus stabs are really nice. You don’t really need to lube them. But, lubing them for SB made it extra loud so I swapped it out for Knight V4. I had some annoying vibration issue in the arrow cluster using the alu plate. I ended up placing a thin piece of electric tape to dampen that corner. Overall a very nice keyboard. Tbh, it’s a bit too heavy for me with all the weights. My son tried it out vs his Realforce R2 (pictured above) and I prefaced it by saying this is an endgame keyboard for many. After a few minutes, he told me “they sound nice but I rather use Topre.” I’ve never been more proud to raise another Topre fan.
